This is so cool, can you imagine being the people in an office somewhere controlling this thing like a video game.

We already do it with aircraft and cars, why not boats?

Can it be sunk? If it floats it can be sunk, if it flies it can be shot down.

Check out the Manta Ray, an unmanned submarine that lays on the ocean floor waiting for a target.

Manta Ray is:

  • Payload-capable to support a variety of missions
  • Autonomous, without the need for on-site human logistics
  • Energy-saving, with the ability to anchor to the seafloor and hibernate in a low-power state
  • Modular, for easy shipment in five standard shipping containers to support expeditionary deployment and in-field assembly world-wide

I'm sure there are many next generation weapons systems we don't know about.

I like the "drone ships" except when something breaks, and something will, the repair man is a long way from the ship, so the ships better be very reliable.

Imagine if cloaking technology exist for the Manta Ray. That would be a game changer.

Sweet!

A drone ship that operates by remote control and they didn't name it the USS Biden?
What a lost opportunity....

Wouldn't Nikola Tesla be impressed. He invented the concept of the radio controlled vessel in 1898, but couldn't interest the military in the potential.
