Let’s be clear. Donald Trump promised a $2000 dividend.

That could mean two things, in both scenarios you ain’t getting no check or refund.

Scenario 1) Donald Trump actually means a check, in the sense that most people probably interpreted Trumpā€˜s promise in social media.
Or a refund if you choose to receive the funds electronically. In this scenario, Trump lied because he does not know for sure that this money will be approved by Congress, which would require 60 votes in the Senate. And the barriers are too strong. Not passing for sure.

Scenario #2: Trump was being slick and he actually meant some bullshit life, ā€œI meant the money from the tax cuts already passed in the big beautiful Billā€. Treasury Secretary Bessent already took care of that part by saying that this may be how people will get the money.

In this second scenario, of course you’re not getting a check or refund.

Just making sure you’re not making any plans with these free $2000.

1. We'll see how congress reacts to the tariff rebate idea. At $38T in debt doubtful.
2. Calling the tax cuts, tips, OT, and SS a dividend isn't what I heard at the news conference, he specifically said tariff revenue.

I also think its doubtful, unless Trump makes a deal with democrats to pass all the Appropriations Bills for a $2,000 rebate from tariff revenue to offset healthcare insurance premiums, but the GOP senate won't go along they want the ACA dead.

Look for another shutdown after J31st.

You're projecting. Making plans for money you don't have is what white trash lefties like you do.

ā€œA dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone,ā€ he added.

Sounds a lot more like a promise than a proposal to me.

Meh. The socialist trump is just talking shit.

any money from the govt is our money....i have given them that 2000 dollars many times in the past....if they want to give it back.ill take it...

You mean banks won't accept the upcoming $2000 cheque as a promissory note?

I am guessing Trump will try and send checks out. He can't just think to himself "I'm not up for re-election so to hell with it". He has to help the GOP for 2028 regardless. It will have his name on them and someone will be smart enough to NOT cash it and keep it as a collectible which will be worth much more in the future.

It has to be tough coming from the business world and then trying to get anything done in the heavily donor controlled (sometimes foreign influence I imagine) world of politics. Musk surely had to feel the same way.

His language shows that it’ it was a promise, not a proposal:

Why would someone not cash it and how would not cashing it make it worth more?

If the USSC rules against tariffs no one will.
His language shows that it’ it was a promise, not a proposal:
Not what I saw at the press conference, he proposed an idea.
ā€œ A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone.ā€
If congress supports that idea, Trump can't authorize funding, duh.

Trump didn’t say ā€œif I win that case in the Supreme Court people will be paidā€. He said people will be paid. Period.
