Don't harsh my zen, Jen!
'Duck Dynasty' exclusive news: Phil Robertson's contract is not with A&E - Oklahoma City TV | Examiner.com

Who is Phil actually contracted with? Is his boss A&E Network?

Phil has a contract with gurney productions then once the show is filmed it is sold to the network A&E who then sells advertisement spots on the show depending on its ratings!! So A&E actually has no contract with the cast only the production company !! When I was on "The Bachelorette" my contract was with next entertainment not ABC.. When I was on "American Guns," my contract was with Gurney Productions not Discovery Channel.

Very interesting ....

A&E owns the name - that's it. So as I read it, Phil and family can just go with Duck Commander or whatever, move to CMT or FOX, and keep on keepin on.

Thanks for finding this BDBoop !

Nah, that's a normal arrangement. The production company sells the show to A&E (or more accurately, A&E hires a production company). I saw this a while back on some other site. It doesn't mean there's a jump to be made; all the parties would still have signed contracts for X number of series or shows, and those contracts are still current.

Nothing shocking about this at all. That's how it's done.
