You cannot blame this high death rate on the prison. There are prisons located throughout the country, even maximum security prisons. Why do those areas not also have high death rates.

Those are some scary ass numbers. Mortality rate for men, and yes, the prison has to be factored in, is a stunning 1,973.2 per 100,000, more than twice the national average. Women also have a significantly higher death rate, is there a large maximum security female prison there? Uh, NO.

Check out the death rates for lung cancer for men, like five times the national average, again, perhaps the prison can shoulder part of the blame. But the one that really jumped out, suicide deaths by women. Hell, the male death rates from suicide is actually lower than the national average. But the female death rate is more than twice the national average and ranks among the highest of any county in the country.
