Venezuela's oil is in the middle of the country. The refinery is in the northwest of the country. That oil has to be moved over ground. Given the topography involved, it will take tens of thousands of US boots on the ground, just for the security, and that doesn't even cover the logistics that will be involved.

Next comes the political will of the American people. I can't wait to hear your sales pitch to America, on how we need their sons and daughters to put their lives on the line to protect Exxon-Mobil, Chevron, and Valero's oil profits.

80% of Venezuelans want Maduro out. I believe the people have spoken. Strange that certain world leaders are condemning this practice but at the same time calling for open, fair, democratic elections.

To answer your question, certain people want to be a part of something even though the only gain is psychological. Right or wrong has virtually no bearings these days. The ones who can make the loudest noise win. This isn't exclusive to Trump supporters.
