A Nicaraguan diplomatic official was found dead in a Bronx apartment with his throat slit, New York City police say.
Police said the 34-year-old man, identified by the Nicaraguan Mission to the UN as Cesar Mercado, was found at about 10:35 a.m. Thursday by his driver, who had been scheduled to take him to the United Nations for the opening of the General Assembly's annual meeting.
