Boo hiss these "fairness" rules. Don't want to roll the dice, win the damn game before the clock strikes zero
The problem is that in every sport the clock does strike zero and games end tied. And in every sport except football the overtime rules were equal for each opponent. Your "argument" lacks merit.

appeals to popularity isn't an argument. It is a logical fallacy.

I would have preferred they just play a 10 minute "fifth quarter" for all games (except pre-season) but this is a good step.
