Newt outlines his new Contract with America

Friday, October 1, 2010Newt Gingrich's Spending Habits
The Associated Press finds some wow-worthy numbers in Newt Gingrich's campaign finance numbers.
His flagship political operation, a tax-exempt conservative group called American Solutions for Winning the Future, has spent at least $2.2 million over the past two years on private jets and executive chauffeur services.

Overall, the group has spent nearly all of the $20 million it has raised over that period on administrative and travel expenses.
POLISING: Newt Gingrich's Spending Habits

They have spent their fund rasised campaign money on campaigning?

Oh, the humanity!

C'mon....c'mon.....he's got Tiffany-expenses, as well.

It's not easy (or, cheap) being a Teabagger's Super Star!!!!

Hey, people, let's not get offensive, we all love our country and none of us want it to become dependent on the government. That's why there ARE Conservatives.........

And none of us want the government to tell us how to run our personal lives and involve itself in our private decisions. We're opposed to laws banning abortion, euthanasia and gay marriage to name just a few.

That's why there ARE Liberals, Progressives and Libertarians.

.

You don't want governmen telling you how to run your personal life, so you vote for people who do just that... Makes no sense to me.

Hell, I first "cut" my political-"teeth" back in '65, when....as a 15-year-old....I had to start thinkin'-about what I was gonna do when "Sam" called....tellin' me I was obligated to a S.E. Asian va-ca.

I've been aware o' Gingrich, ever since that little prick (first) hit D.C.!!!!

This is no Teabagger-style/rookie-to-politics obsession.

I've NEVER liked that little bastard!!!!

You mean....as opposed to you "conservatives"....who need clerics to tell you how to live-your-lives....and, define (for you) what's Good & what's Evil??

At least our concerns are based on Reality.....rather-than (your) Fairy Tale concepts.

Only idiots and partisan hacks cannot see Newt for what he really is.

My problem with that statement is that it does not include Barry. ;)
Your (other) problem is...you haven't the maturity (or, education...obviously) to participate (here), in any accurate way.

Isn't there a teen-chat site (somewhere) you'd feel more capable of appreciating/participating?

Newt and his contracts with America, we all know what happened last time he did this, it failed

The Rs did exactly what they promised to do, in case you are not aware or get your inormation only from the Lamestream Media. Every item on the Contract was put to an up or down vote in the house. That is exactly what they promised, and that's exactly what they did.

They put the first eight items to vote on the first day of business and passed them just as they promised. And then they put the next ten items up for vote within the first 100 days just as promised. And every item passed except term limits which was narrowly defeated. But it was an honest bill with an honest vote. Bill Clinton signed all into law.

Those who say that the original "Contract with America" failed either are either woefully ignorant or just parroting the prescribed talking points listed on the leftwing sites.

Most of that visionary reformer group term limited themselves out over the next six years though and the Congress George Bush got was a very different group more interested in the status quo than in reform. They managed to blow all their political capital and they, together with President Bush, lost the majority in 2006 and the Presidency in 2008.

Whatever Newt comes up with for a Contract with America for the 21st Century or whatever it is ultimately called, it will be based on great research about what is most important to the people, it will be written in everyday plain English with no hidden agenda such as too often we get from Obama and the Democrats these days, it will be fully understandable, and it will most likely be effective if all the prospective candidates at all levels sign onto it.

I look forward to seeing it.

And if it is adopted, we can only hope the GOP has learned its lesson.

Then, you've gotta consider what "success" (of the "Contract") meant....

"As one senior aide to an up-and-coming freshman lawmaker told me: "The contract is a political document for 1996. It was never meant to be a governing document. We don't care if the Senate passes any of the items in the contract. It would be preferable, but it's not necessary. If the freshmen do everything the contract says, they'll be in excellent shape for 1996, and we can add to our majority in Congress. But if we compromise the contract in order to pass laws, we lose support."

Gee......isn't that the Teabaggers' favorite-outsider....The DICK; Armey??????

Newt got Clinton reelected in 1996, and so he may get Obama reelected 16 years later.
I'm thinkin' his re-election is pretty-much a given....much like '96.

Mitt Romney had better start workin' on his stage-diving skills!
