It is interesting that he is suddenly choosing to be honest, if only in his implication, and not in his words.

I believe that you hit the nail on the head for his reason. He would not think that way, and act on it so nearly openly,* if he thought Harris had a snowflakes chance of winning. He would wait until she lost, and then immediately be the first to tell the press, "I knew it was a mistake to go around the voters!" thus positioning himself to be the next pick of the voters and to be able to defend against a Biden-like coup attempt.

*To act "nearly openly" is about the best we can expect from any Democrat these days.

He was absolutely considered, but he thought Biden wasnt going to drop out, so he said something like "I would NEVER run against Biden. Joe is awesome and totally capable"". Now that Biden dropped out and Kamala immediately swooped in to take the spot, he is pissed off about it. Maybe he shouldnt have lied in the beginning about Bidens mental decline.
