New Study on Shingles Vaccines (!)

Here's the conclusion from the study:

The risk increase is for those 65 and older, and those who did get shingles apparently mostly got mild cases. It is still a risk, but it's not simply anyone who gets this shingles vaccine is 11 times more likely to develop shingles.

Here's a question:

WHY would getting a vaccine make you MORE susceptible, even for a 'transient' period??

Yes they were. One thing to remember is the the increased risk between the 2 shots is only 21 days. And the increased risk was only for people 65 or over.

And females are at slightly higher risk than males.

It's a 1 in 3 chance without the vaccine if you had chicken pox. And shingles can be an absolutely debilitating because of the intense relentless pain.

No, Shingrix vaccines are given TWO to SIX months apart. Not "21 days".

Shingles is terrible.

You have an 11 fold increase in getting it after the first shot. No thanks.
I had the first one years back when my wife got Shingles but my doc told me to go ahead and get the second two-shot round.

I got the first of the two-shot deal near two months ago and I'm due the second this coming week. I guess I beat the odds. ;)

The risk is only higher for the first 21 days after the first shot.

Also, after age 85, the risk for the unvaccinated who previously had chicken pox goes up to 1:2 odds. Like flipping a coin.

It astounds me that we're so far down the rabbit hole that getting a shot for a disease you're TRYING NOT TO GET gives you and 11 fold increase of GETTING SAID DISEASE and yet people defend this.

Trying to imagine my grandparents' generation like, yeah, you have an 11 FOLD RISK of getting polio for the first 21 days, but that's fine! It's all fine! They would never. They would laugh.

My bigger concern here is decreasing the effectiveness of my immune system and just generally throwing it out of wack.

I see commercials all the time these days for treatments to autoimmune disorders. I have no desire to get one of these TBH.

Most of the research, of course, will deny that vaccines have anything to do with the annual increase in rates of autoimmune diagnosis, but they all come to the conclusion that infections are a major cause.

What the hell? Isn't giving a vaccine a mild infection intended to produce immunity?

The excuses make no sense to me.

The sheer number and types of autoimmune diseases has proliferated since I was a kid. In the old days, the only hyper-reactions in the immune system were asthma and allergies (not technically autoimmune, but immune system dysfunctions,) . . . . now, the list of these types of diseases are so prevalent all over society.

. . . and yet, the supposed other causes do not seem to have increased in sync with them the way the use of vaccines have.

I've shared this many times but it bears repeating.

10-15 years ago I brought up to my dr that in years I get the flu shots, I might not get flu but I get EVERYthing else: colds, strep, stomach viruses. She said yes, vaccines can SUPPRESS your immune system.

Then, my daughter was guilted into getting her flu shot at age 16 (to be fair, I allowed it). She was the ONLY one in our family of four--we all lived together--who was dx at the same office with flu. None of the rest of us got it. This was 10 years ago.

Since then, none of us EVER get our flu shots, and thus started my deep distrust of vaccines.

You're welcome to develop a better vaccine yourself if you don't like it.

I'd suggest getting vaccinated before you are in the 65+ high risk group.

That’s a piss poor attempt at being sarcastic. No shingles does not kill a lot of people but if you get it you might wish that you were dead.

My take on you is that you really don’t give a shit about the disease or the vaccine and know less. You just take an ant vax position because your lord and master, the orange ogre and his worm brained HHS secretary tell you should .Like them, you cherry pick the negative information while disregarding the benefits at the expense of gullible people You don’t seem to have a brain of your own. and if you do , you also have worms.

I suspect that most of the internet anti-vax people are all jabbed up TBH.

Are you actually buting into the 11 fold thing? Shingles is not covid. Two different things. As far as polio the vacvine against it was what saved lives. Cant believe youd dcoff at the pilio vaccine.

Oops! Not so new study on shingles has shown that you are nearly 40% at higher risk for a stroke and 25% higher risk of heart attack if you have shingles. If you should have shingles affecting the eye, that heart attack occurrence jumps to over 50% Something the shingles vaccine can prevent.

Something else to note is that during the first month after a shingles episode this number can be 63% higher for stroke. The percentages does go down in the succeeding months after though and averages out to nearly 40%.

Does the study cover all of the people who GET shingles AFTER getting the shingles jab? I'm guessing the answer is NO.
