New POLL: 72% of Americans choose saving lives over the health of the U.S. Economy.

Do these people think letting the economy crash will have no negative impact or cost lives just curious if they consider that. It's rather sad that we have become such an either or society and that we now believe we can't try and accomplish both keeping people safe and saving the economy.

Yes, no focus on slowing the curve. Because as we've been advised by an Orange Turd, MILLIONS would be committing suicide! :icon_rolleyes:
So why hasn’t the curve been flattened in NY, where #PresidentCuomo is in charge?

Doesn't have a damn thing to do with politics. It has to do with incompetency at the top.
So where is the Democrat plan to deal with it? Two months ago they were telling us President Trump was the greatest threat to national security, not a virus spreading through Asia.

I think they have been proven right given Trump's failure to stop or contain the virus in the United States.

What would Sleepy Joe have done to prevent the virus ? How would Biden's Open Border policy helped to contain it?

Biden would not have dismissed the Pathogen as just flu like Trump did. He would have been more likely to take aggressive shut down efforts as well as block or restrict foreign travel from all countries like Taiwan and Japan did. Trump failed to act, and just banning travel from China does almost nothing given how people travel around the world today as well as the fact that the virus was spreading to various parts of the globe within hours thanks to air-travel. Just blocking travel from one country, China, made no sense.
Biden called Trump's travel ban "xenophobic" and "racist."

.they are literally drooling in anticipation of a Great Depression.....the Crisis they have all been waiting for, praying for to their god "Government...."

The Great Depression years were the high point of Liberalism here in America. They had this guy, FDR, who tried to fix everything. Established unemployment checks, social security, welfare checks, public housing projects and so much more. Didn't cure the economic woes however, the Friday before Japan pulled a Pearl Harbor job on us in Hawaii, we still had double digit unemployment.

Then government spending really kicked in after Pearl Harbor, and the United States turned into a Superpower!

Militarily, yes, America became a superpower within a few years, at a huge, tremendous cost of human life.

But my undisputed point was that FDR's Raw Deal proposals did nothing at all to improve the economy.

Americans support drastic efforts to stop coronavirus, expect crisis to last for months in Public Agenda/USA TODAY/Ipsos poll
Joel Shannon, USA TODAY
USA TODAYApril 3, 2020, 4:30 AM EDT

The poll, conducted March 27-30 on behalf of Public Agenda and USA TODAY, surveyed U.S. adults as a part of the Hidden Common Ground initiative, which aims to examine issues that divide America along with potential solutions. The online poll has a credibility interval, akin to a margin of error, of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Americans choose saving lives over the health of the US economy
Clinton is among the majority (72%)of respondents who believe the government's priority should be saving lives by stopping the spread of the virus, as opposed to sparing the economy.

Only about 1 in 5 said the government's main priority should be saving the economy.

So Americans are economically retarded? Shocking. Wait till them bellies start grumbling...that shit will change Quickly....believe me....believe me.

In terms of business, food is a booming business. Grocery Stores are making record profits.

Do these people think letting the economy crash will have no negative impact or cost lives just curious if they consider that. It's rather sad that we have become such an either or society and that we now believe we can't try and accomplish both keeping people safe and saving the economy.

It's not going to crash. The next two stimulus packages will be half a trillion in direct payments to people, and universal health care.

And not one dime for corporations or tax cuts of any kind.

I just hope Trumkinland will be able to cope with the fact non whites will be getting money from the government.

Of course my challenge to all of them about becoming Maga Martyrs, and sacrificing themselves for the cause is still open.
So you think that the average person should get a few bucks, and universal health care (which will have to be paid for from this point on)...

But the corporations and business owners that actually hire people should just be left to absorb the losses or go under???

According to the IRS’ most recent analysis of the distribution of the income tax burden, the top one percent of income earners paid 37 percent of all income taxes in Tax Year 2016. This was nearly twice as much as their 19.7 percent share of income. Breaking this down, the top 25 percent of earners paid nearly 86 percent of all income tax.

Gee, what happens when the "free money" runs out because almost nobody is PAYING IN???
I wonder how much tax government will collect when there is no economic activity to tax?

The shelter-in-place-for-eternity crowd has no idea what they are talking about

The Essential services economy is booming! Health Care is booming! The Production of medical supplies is booming! The delivery service is booming! Grocery Stores and Pharmacy's are booming! There is a new economy that is taking the place of the old.

And those all depend on everyone else having jobs and money to use them.......which they won't have in a Great Depression....

what about that do you not understand?

You are a moron.....biden is owned by the Chinese.....he and his brother and son have made a fortune taking their money, now they own him.......

He would have kept travel with China open, as per instructions from China, and he would have flooded the country with medical supplies.......from China.....

What a lot of people may not realize is that it isn't an "either-or" proposition. A collapsed economy and the poverty that ensues will create huge numbers of deaths. And further, a ruined economy will make it near impossible to get a cure for coronavirus or other future pestilences, as the people will be living at a subsistence level.

Defeating the Pathogen as quickly as possible will actually help the economy more than hurt it. We don't want to repeat all the mistakes of the Spanish Flu in 1918. Back in 1918, San Francisco shut down and saved lives and the benefits were huge. The Flu was unable to really spread in San Francisco. By contrast Philadelphia held parades and did nothing and suffered tens of thousands of deaths. Bodies lying in the street and in homes. Children starving to death because their parents were dead and no one would come near them. Its sad were in the shape were in now given that the world has had 102 years to prepare for the next major pandemic. 102 years later and were back to dead bodies stacking up outside hospitals and people wearing masks. So little progress after so much time. We think were an advanced society, but in many ways were still stuck in the middle ages.

They shutdown the city for less than a month:
After some discussion, the Board of Health voted to close all places of public amusement, ban all lodge meetings, close all public and private schools, and to prohibit all dances and other social gatherings effective at 1:00 am on Friday, October 18.
Meanwhile, the epidemic continued to grind on, although the number of new reported cases had begun to decline. By the end of October, San Francisco had experienced a total of nearly 20,000 cases of influenza and over 1,000 deaths. Still, the situation had improved enough for Hassler to recommend re-opening the city. On November 13 the Board of Health voted to lift the various bans starting on Saturday, November 16.

Lifting the shutdown was based on health conditions on the ground at the time, not because some nut was more worried about their money than saving lives.

Yep.......we had had Depressions before, and they lasted a couple of years.......the Great Depression lasted so long because FDR took the crisis and didn't let it go to waste......controlling sectors of the economy, creating wasteful government programs draining money out of the productive economy, raising taxes to crush enterpise....and breaking the will of the Supreme Court..........

ROFL! You're inventing excuses. THey knew far less about infectious diseases back then than we do now. The fact is they only shutdown for a month, and that stopped the spread of the disease. Anyone who isn't concerned about damaging the economy is a fool and a douchebag.

Moron.....you are hoping for the destruction.......

A Great Depression means no jobs, no money, you doofus.....that means no food, clothing or healthcare for millions of people....for possible decades......

But....that is just what you guys want and need........so you can enact government healthcare...where more people will die.....government control over the economy...which will keep people poor...

You guys are vile.

The United States GDP levels achieved records never before achieved by any country in history. If it was just because of the destruction of the war, then the United States would have ceased being a super power by 1960!
