Over 2 million people signed up for Obamacare, says White House - U.S. News

More than 2.1 million people have enrolled in private insurance plans the marketplace, she said. An additional 3.9 million Americans were found eligible for coverage through Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in October and November, with that figure including some renewals and new eligibility.

WOW! Yes, the GOP needs to kill this as quickly as possible. It will be a hugely popular position to take!

The train has left the station folks. Time to accept that...

Mandate means what to you?

Those that did not have insurance had to sign up.
Those that had insurance then lost it because of Obama had to sign up and get insurance.

Then we see people siginging up and it's no where near the amouint of people that the left said
did not have insurance something like 48 million....

Now we have a few million signing up and it's deemed a huge success and republilicans need to shut
the fuck up....

Is that where we are now?

No one has lost the opportunity to have good insurance, period.

Step off.

Yesterday it was 1.1 million and today it's over 2 million.

You mean 1 million signed up overnight?

That's possible, given the deadline, but it really doesn't change anything. How many of these people are going to actually make their first payment? I'm guessing many won't given the cost. Furthermore, the whole point of this "reform" was to insure all of the uninsured, which is somewhere around 45 to 50 million on any given day according to estimates. We're talking roughly 4% of that number have signed up then and in reality it's nowhere near that even because many of these people are obviously previously insured folks who had their plans cancelled.

In other words, Jim is having an orgasm over this news which actually shows the program is failing, not succeeding, but don't expect him to understand that. Obama's approval is plummeting to George Bush levels and hyper partisans like Jim, who put their political party before their country, have to grasp on to any morsel of news that sounds like it could possibly be good in order to reassure themselves that everything will be okay, but those of us with a functioning brain know better.

Millions of people have, Jake, but you're too dishonest and dishonorable to have an honest discussion about the issue.

We know, although the admin has its problems, that we can believe nothing from the wing nut far right reactionaries and their radical anti-American agenda.

It is believable given the way the numbers have been snowballing over the past week, improvements to website usability, and basic human nature to put off dealing with shit until the last moment.

However it is hardly cause for celebration by Obama administration, I think their goal was something like 3.6 million by end of year. I guess it is a lot better than things were looking when they had like 300k going into December.
