Someone on X brought this to my attention.

For those anti-gunners about to say, this doesn't mean that concealed carry actually worked to lower the murder rate.

You could be right, but do you know what it actually means?

Allowing gun owners to carry their guns in public does not increase the murder rate....

New Jersey increased concealed carry permits......

Percent Increase
  • From pre-Bruen baselines:
    • ~3,000% increase in annual issuances (e.g., 631 in 2021 vs. 19,933 in 2023).
    • ~5,000% increase in permits issued in the period immediately after Bruen compared to the equivalent pre-ruling window (e.g., ~32,465 new permits in ~20 months post-ruling vs. 666 in a similar pre-period).
    • Overall, applications surged ~26–40+ times higher post-Bruen (e.g., ~61,751 applications by early 2025 vs. ~1,500 in the prior 2.5 years).

And the crime rate?

Homicides in Camden, New Jersey, were down 90% during the first quarter of 2026 compared to 2012, according to data shared by the Camden County Police Department on April 3, 2026.

Officials said the city has also seen a 57% reduction in overall violent crime and an 89% reduction in shootings throughout the city's 19 neighborhoods compared to the same period in 2012, the year when the city department was disbanded and reformed as Camden County Metro Police.
