They are already searching for hazardous asteroids so it really didn't cost anything for this.

In any event, I think it's great that after mankind is wiped out by Climate Change, aliens visiting our solar system in the future will find this and be scratching their heads thinking, "WTF"? Wish I could be there watching them trying to figure it out.
