I read this and think Pollak makes some good points.

The mainstream media is once again paying undue attention to the “Never Trump” faction of Republicans, the few who swore they would not vote for Donald Trump in 2016, even though doing so would mean electing Hillary Clinton and bringing about an irreversible entrenchment of left-wing power.
Many of them changed their minds after Trump won, and especially after seeing him govern as the most conservative president since Ronald Reagan (or Calvin Coolidge).
Yet the media are doing their best to revive the remainder. “The once-mocked ‘Never Trump’ movement becomes a sudden campaign force,” the Washington Post proclaimed on Saturday.
There is no doubt that this group is well-funded, and producing slick Internet ads, but there is no evidence that they are having any sort of impact.
And their pretense at “conservatism” is exposed by the fact that they are running ads against Republicans in crucial Senate races as well.
The main objection of the Never Trumpers remains the president’s style — not the substance of his governance, which has been more faithful to the conservative cause than any of them has been...
Trump’s stand for history — the good, the bad, and the ugly — is the contemporary incarnation of Burke’s wisdom.
The Black Lives Matter movement rejects all that has gone before — including the Founding, and the Civil War, and the very principle of free speech. If Democrats — who support this process of historical destruction — win in 2020, they will continue to hack away at the country’s foundations — and its freedoms.

"Let's vote for a hardcore Socialist instead of a rude Conservative," said no actual conservative EVER.

Jim, calling trump a conservative is the dumbest thing you have ever said. He is radical right and that has nothing to do with conservationism. Nothing conservative about hiring crooks, liars, traitors, and inexperienced family members, getting caught withholding military aide to get a political favor. Nothing conservative about siding with Putin while on foreign soil over every US intelligence service evaluations and the investigations into Russian influence of both houses of congress. Nothing conservative pulling our troops off the border between Syria and Turkey because the Turks and the Russians asked him to, so the low bred Turks can come across the border and attack allies that have been fight for us and supporting what had been trumps foreign policy in that region. Nothing conservative about insulting injured American soldier, injured in a missile attack in Iraq after he green-lighted the mission to kill that sleazy Iranian General. Nothing conservative about supporting that $hit-heal Saudi prince and sending our troops to help him as if they were renta-cops. Nothing conservative about insulting Goldstar families. Nothing conservative about him at all. I miss the conservatives. Too bad they are all dead and gone.

You are obviously confused about Trump viz. "conservatism" as mocked by the Never-Trumpers.
First, Trump's brand of conservatism is called "populism".
The old money conservatives are called "globalists", they are the ones like Mitt Romney who chop up factories and send jobs overseas.
As for hiring crooks, liars, and inexperienced family members, that is standard practice in DC.
Withholding military aid temporarily, after giving much needed lethal aid to Ukraine, in order to uncover extortion in a very corrupt Ukraine should have been a good thing, except the extorter was a democrat, so that's "bad". (whose son got $83,000 a month for nothing? Follow the money)
Your "fact" about the Russian interference is incorrect. Russian interference happens every election, and the only campaign that worked with Russians in 2016 was the Clinton campaign and the purchase of the Steele Dossier from Russians (Putin?) making up "dirt" on Trump. In concert with the Obama admin's efforts to spy on and setup Trump for failure.
Trump saved US lives by pulling them away from the border prior to the Turk invasion, Trump was right, the generals were wrong.
Trump gave oil fields to the Kurds, protected by US armor. The Kurds (US allies) made out on the deal.

Now take a look at Trump's conservative record:
Two supreme court justices (and counting) that wouldn't have been there if the Never-Trumpers succeeded
300 conservative Federal court judges (and counting) that wouldn't have been there if the Never-Trumpers succeeded
The rooting out of deep state operatives in the Federal government placed by the "community organizer"
You can read the rest of Trump's "populist" successes here:

Those "REpublicans" should have considered this backlash before they supported Rump in his Criminal Ventures.

How is Trump conservative?

-no deficit plans signed into legislation with his GOP CONGRESS prior to 2018.
NOT A FISCAL CONSERVATIVE

-married multiple times with kids born out of wedlock.
NOT A CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE

-threatens to withhold money from states who do not open as well as threatening use of troops for not quelling riots.
NOT A STATES POWERS CONSERVATIVE

Populism Trumps conservatism, duh.

Conservatism is dead. Bush/Cheney killed it. Romney killed it. Its dead.

I kinda agree with that. Trump is a lot like Truman. Their names are even similar.
Trump is a "populist", by definition an old school "middle of the road" "New Republican", not a "democrat", but a "Truman Democrat".
Democrats have move so far Left that they are unrecognizable, except to call them "socialists", "globalist-socialists" a deadly combination.

How would Harry Truman or JFK fit into the new democrat party?
