For the sake of argument:

1. Country A is better off letting country B running their affairs. than them running their own affairs.

2. Country A then starts revolution to overthrow country B and succeeds.

3. Country A is now worse off than when run by country B.

Is this a good thing? Is the freedom to fail a larger virtue or cover more sin than not allowing a country's populace to suffer from that decision?

In the real world, I present two examples.

1. Scotland has a long rich history of trying to fight for their independence. However, recently it was put to a vote and they declined as they decided that they were far better off under the UK.

2. North Korea is home to perhaps the most oppressed people on the face of the earth, and succeeded in fighting of the US so that they could run their own affairs.

Which country is better off, with the hypothetical that the people of Scotland did not have their vote to be free?

Scotland is much better off because they play golf and have beautiful golf courses.
