Yeah, its a shame that people allow racist schools to exist.
There are no such thing as segregated colleges.....or do you think white students are not allowed to attend historically black colleges??
Oh by the way, the reason they are called historically black colleges -- that is because historically blacks were not allowed to attend "ACTUALLY SEGREGATED COLLEGES" -- so they created their own......d1c suckers like you may call it "pulling yourself up by your boot straps" -- but apparently, these colleges represent hatred, but the reason they were created in the first place tends to be conveniently overlooked by you hypersensitive morons.....

Segregation does not necessarily refer to legal segregation only. It can be cultural and social as well, e.g., BET, NAACP, UNCF, etc.
I seriously doubt that HBCU’s are held to the same quota standards as mainstream universities and don’t need the same amount of
diversity in order to receive grant money, federal or otherwise.
You can be sure there will be no
white studies curriculum at an HBCU.
Really?? No European history? No Western philosophy?
You can be sure--that you don't have a clue as to what is or is not on the curriculum---judging by your post.
As to how and why all black universities came to be...only a fool would look beyond the obvious..that Black students were not allowed in most universities...and the few that did make the steep climb were subjected to unrelenting pressure from most of their peers.
You did hit the nail on the head with your comment on social and cultural segregation--you just forgot to mention the many, many groups that were Whites only for most of our nation's history.
Accidentally tripped over the truth...LOL!
Black American history is part of western history. No need to create curriculum based on black skin color but that’s what we’ve had and you’re too brainwashed to comprehend.
Using past segregation (practically ancient) does not justify current segregation. That is counterproductive and hypocritical at the very least.
Well....there are NO universities that are racially segregated...by law. By custom is a different matter..and it takes time to offset the inertia of the past.
As to my 'brainwashing'...it might surprise you to learn that I believe exactly the same about you.
African studies...and various classes that explore the Black experience in America are a part and parcel of the struggle for Black people to reclaim a cultural heritage that is not dictated to them by people and institutions with a hostile and/or adversarial posture. Are they slanted and over the top? Yeah..most of them are. It is always up to the student to discern the truth..amidst all the hoopla.
The idea of racial equality is still very new..and curriculum had been based on skin color for a long time..60 years is not going to change that..it is a work in progress.
60 years since Jim Crow....55 years if you count it from the 1964 Civil Rights Act--is not..in any way, shape or form...ancient history.
One need only read the posts here at USMB to know that many will be racists until the day they die--and yeah..I include some Black folk in that assessment as well.
At least they have an historical excuse...What's yours?
