Democrats thought they could limit the number of convention attendees. Then they would have headlines about how small the convention is.
The problem there is that they knew that it was a huge event when they signed the contract to host.
They knew that it wasn't a "small event" with just a few attendees.
A small event doesn't provide a lot of tax revenue or commerce.
The delegates as well as the media and others that will be at the event are going to want to have a tremendous time, wherever they are at. Patronize restaurants, strip joints, hotels, bars. That's a lot of money, a lot of jobs. If the governor of NC wants to give that up, that's going to hurt his own people. Not Trump. BTW, a small, private event that the NC Governor envisions doesn't help out the people of NC much either, even if it came down and it won't
