Rush - Xanadu

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnDSfDKJGAo]Xanadu - Rush (1977) - YouTube[/ame]

a good example of how Canadian rock bands can sometimes be incredibly fuckin' tedious... :)

here's another example...

Bill. I understand that you can't help it that other people might have different tastes than you. At least Frank had talent enough to critique.

You've just got critique.

Good for you.

I like Rush. A lot. I like the Guess Who as well. A lot.

So you don't.

Meh.

As John Lennon said (when he was being pestered by a critiquing reporter who asked him what he thought of the people who said his music was noise):

It's all noise really, isn't it? It's just that some people like our form of noise and some like other noise.

He was not only a smart man, he was a true musician.

Bill, you're a bit of a fleecy in comparison.

So on one hand you're my buddy and you're eccentric and I accept it.

Still, on the other hand?

Fuck you very much.

:D

 Theres always a party pooper in the crowd Ropey :lalala:

sent to you before...

never gets old for me...

It's a matter of taste. I think that's one of Tom's most commercial pop rock tunes and Red Rider's made a lot of good tunes.

That say it all doesn't it...

Rush has sold 25 million albums in the U.S. for a ranking of 79th.[1] Although total worldwide album sales are not calculated by any single entity, several industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units as of 2004. The group has been awarded 24 gold, 14 platinum, and 3 multi-platinum albums

btw... I can understand why you'd rather not meet me for a drink in Saskatchewan...

ain't much nuthin' there...

I'll be passin' up around Fargo, North Dakota in a month or two...

dunno that I'll have what it takes to cross back and forth across the border...

it ain't like the old days...

if I can't make it to, say, Winnipeg,

could you meet me in, say, Grand Forks...?

I've told you many times that I was born in Saskatchewan, but that I've lived in Vancouver/White Rock since the late '70's.

So, I could meet you in Washington, but I won't.

You can come here. I'll pay your loging.

But you've got to listen to my tunes.

:D

Bill likes his rock to be less progressive and more regressive. I understand that. I've met purists before.

I've told some of them to fuck off as well.

the fact that tens of millions of people buy all kinds of crap

doesn't necessarily mean the crap is any good...

You didn't get what Lennon meant at all.

That's because he's a true musician and you're just a personal critique.

I prefer his thought when it comes to personal choice.

I'd love to make it back up to the Vancouver area...

btw, did I ever tell you about the first time I tried crossing the border at Blaine...?

got turned away 'cause I was a hitchhiker with only $20 in my pocket...

and, heading back down, got arrested in Bellingham...

where I spent several days in the local jail...

met lots of interesting people there... :)
