My MAGA neighbor is pissed

Either your neighbor is getting ripped off by the pharmacy, or you are lying:

Key initiatives by former President Joe Biden, such as the $35 monthly cap on insulin, the $2000 annual OOP cap on prescription drugs, and Medicare’s authority to negotiate drug prices under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), remain unaffected by Trump’s executive actions.
The his insurance is fucking him over.

This is a fake news, a made up story..

You came undone when you said you said to him tough shit. If he was really MAGA he wouldn’t have broken your nose.

Nope. It's known as "anecdotal evidence".

And MAGAts are by and large cowards. he wasn't in a pack so I was in no danger.

The "Affordable Care" Act caused insurance rates to soar. There is nothing affordable about any part of it.
Mmmm....except...it didn't. Not only did it NOT cause insurance rates to explode, it did also NOT cause most people to have to ditch their doctor.

What did cause rates to soar?....whelp...rising medical costs, increased drug prices, more middle man admin than you can shake a stick at..

Oh yeah..and a DECADE of Republican and conservative chipping away at the foundation of the law.
And it STILL enjoys more popularity today than it did right after it passed. :)

Filled his insulin last month for $10.00.

Picked up his refill at Dillons Pharmacy today for nearly $800.00.

Happened to encounter him at the store, said howdy just to be neighborly, and caught an earful. For some reason he was under the impression it was everyone else's prescriptions that were gonna go up, not his.

My reply?

This is what you voted for, tough shit.

I do actually kinda feel for the guy though. He's retired and this is gonna put a huge dent in his finances.

You cannot be this stupid? But you are.
Without the Affordable Care Act (ACA), private insurance would be more expensive. The ACA provides subsidies that make private insurance more affordable for many people.

Explanation
  • Without subsidies
Without the ACA, premiums would increase sharply. This is because only people who are sicker than average would enroll in marketplace plans.

  • Less affordable coverage
As premiums increase, more healthy people would stop purchasing insurance. This would lead to even higher premiums.

  • Concentrated markets
The number of private health insurance companies in each state has decreased over time. This can lead to higher premiums and fewer options for consumers.
How the ACA makes private insurance more affordable
  • Premium tax credits: These credits reduce the monthly payments for insurance coverage.

  • Cost sharing reductions (CSRs): These reductions reduce deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs.

  • Medicaid expansion: The ACA expanded Medicaid for adults with incomes at or below 138% of the federal poverty level.
