Pits and mixed pits should never be taken in. They should all be put down.

One thing I learned real quick about animal shelters:

Pit Bulls.....As far as the eye can see, cage after cage of Pit Bulls. 50lb Pit Bulls. 120lb Monster Pit Bulls.

Whatever you think the most white-trash trailer dog mauling machine is you can imagine; that's what you get in Animal Shelters.

Use a Rescue if you want a dog. Around here rescues send every Pit or Pit/mix to a Shelter.

I just got a rehomed GSD for free and I've found out why.

I was / am AFU and couldn't train her right but she is getting better.

My last German Shepherd Ranger was trained so well...he would attack if I wiggled my finger.

Some dogs rescued from dog fighting become very gentle when given a second chance, not sure how you can safely determine when you get to that stage, also sure this facility was prepared to handle these dogs, does not sound like it.

It's not the breed. It's the people who try to raise these strong animals who fail them by mistreating them or trying to fight them. If German Shepherds were trained to fight and mistreated as often as pits, they'd be in the same predicament as pits.

There are many, many gentle loving pits that you never hear of. My daughter had a pit mix that she adopted when he was one. He was mistreated but she hung in there with him and he became a sweet loving dog, including towards her son whom Brody, the dog, lived with for the last 5 years of his life.

You should be aware of any dog around kids. My 9 year old coon dog mix is regularly around toddlers, has never shown an ounce of aggression to anyone beyond a chipmunk but I always keep an eye on both the kids and her.

There are exceptions of course. But you never know what your pit will do until you know. One thing can set them off, it's in their breed.

Most apartments don't allow Pit Bills. To be fair, if they are brought up by RACIST Democrats. they help teach their dog violence. When you get a chance, watch the old black and white TV with Lassie episodes, They never beat down their dogs and they knew how to treat them.
