Mouse trap! Want to go to Disney? You will pay.

Now they have "too Obese to stand in line" free pass onto rides. Special gate opens for these ADULTS to go right in front of everyone. Scooter parking nearby as they can driveright up close. Uh...yes.
Is there a surcharge for that service?

No surprise, big price increases for Disney theme parks. Is it just me, or are you throwing away your money going to these parks? $224 a ticket to get in, per person and you've got long lines to deal with and high prices of food and high prices of hotels and airline tickets and rental car and so on and so forth.

There has to be a better way.

Unless you are 4 years old, just a lot of long lines, hot weather, nothing to see, and expensive subpar food.

People only go because that is what you are supposed to do if you have a kid I reckon, the same reason everyone buys a diamond to give their spouse when they get married.

Universal in my opinion is a lot more fun.

People tend to do things without even thinking why they do it.

If you are an immobile fat **** that ate themselves into blimphood then live with the consequences of you own personal choice.

In Anaheim yes in the 90s? Dont know anymore?

Orlando? To stand 40 min in blazing sun? They must have cover or fans or something?.
I recall that some lines had air conditioners blowing down. One trip to Orlando was more than enough. Our kids preferred our local historic amusement park called Kennywood that opened in 1898.

My understanding is the waiting for a ride is like 30-40 minutes. That eats up a day for children
There's no wait at all if you go between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. That's when I always take my family on vacation, or else in January.

We went to Disneyland at the end of September a few years ago and there was no wait for any of the rides, except the newest ride based on the Cars movie.

The kids rode every ride as often as they wished.

And the weather was PERFECT. Standing in long lines in the summer heat is for suckers.

It's all about timing.

I also put us up in a couple of rooms in a hotel on the Disney property. If you do that, you get to enter the park an hour before the public.

The tickets are also cheaper that time of year.

Pro tip for vets: Disney offers huge military discounts. Don't buy them at the gate. Buy them on base or through GOVx.com. If I recall correctly, the discount for my whole family was something like 50 percent.

It's an extortion scam. Pop culture tells kids that they have to go to Disneyworld and parents have to shell out a thousand bucks a day for the experience.

Playing the devil's advocate here but the cost is a better bargain than a family of 4 attending an NFL game, say lower level seating.

$40.00 for parking, unless you want to pay $60.00 for preferred parking...

I remember when it was less than $10.00 to get into the park, but you had to buy the ticket books to get on the rides... "E" tickets were for the really good rides, thus the term "E ticket" when referring to something exciting. They did away with the ticket books in 1982 and admission to the park included the rides.

In 1955, when they opened, it was $1.00 to enter the park and they charged extra at the attractions.

Disneyland had it's day, and it was great when you were a kid. For instance, when they did a major renovation where they introduced new rides and attractions, I believe it was 1968.
They added 'Pirates of the Caribbean', the 'Haunted House', 'Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln', 'Carousel of Progress', 'Flight To Mars', 'Adventure Thru Inner Space', 'America the Beautiful'. They used animatronics for the first time, and for that time, the high-tech was mind blowing. We went all the time, growing up we lived eight miles from driveway to parking lot.

Do what I do. Just never go. Disney just had someone die on their Haunted House ride. That is why they are probably raising prices, to pay for more liability insurance.

At $224 a day, that is about $28/hour, of which you probably spend 75% of your time walking around and waiting in line, so, probably more like $112/hour for any time you actually spend ON a ride.

Then there is stopping to pee, buy food and eat. Let's say for buy $50 worth of food. Now it is costing you time standing around eating. Maybe you can chew your food while actually ON the ride. Better still would be if they could serve you food and drink while ON the ride.

So figure on spending more like $300 a day, between daily ticket fee, parking and food. Assuming you don't buy any crap. Then out of the 8 hours there, you maybe spend one actual hour actually RIDING one of their rides.

So realistically, going to Disney, it is more like you are spending $5 a minute for maybe 1 hour's worth of fun spent over an 8 hour period. The other 7 hours are spent walking, sitting, eating, peeing, and waiting in some line.
