you get to choose 2...
or add a few of your own or tell a story about someone that annoys the crap out of you.....

is this based on one's own self or someone in their world bubble?

other people's personalities... what bothers you about others... (but you can talk about yourself too!)

I'm not a Nazi when it comes to thread discussion!

ok- based on that Q in a generic general way I agree that dishonesty/liar is the worst & then I checked 'other'... for selfishness.

I also think 'arrogant & conceited' as more or less the same trait.

Nice list.

some of my best qualities

Dishonesty is by far the worst.

Either that or "arrogant", you little goddam pipsqueak.

Good list Bonz. "Arrogant" and "rude" might have been combined but I chose "arrogant" and "dishonest".
And I know, because I'm the greatest human who ever lived, and I've never lied.

LOL <high fives>

I've dealt with liars all my life. I can handle it cause when face to face, I can tell.
It doesn't annoy me.

Pessimistic clingy complainers.... HATE!

You know....

This hurts, that hurts, that sucks, life sucks, I'm bored, I don't want to go, this is going to be a disaster. worrying about everything that can go wrong....

and someone that hovers! ugh!

Extreme arrogance and rudeness.

Liars are fun--especially if they are not arrogant nor rude.

As long as they're not complaining about ME -- I'm cool with that.. And pessimism is more easily cured than lying or arrogant.

Interestingly, all but one is really a manifestation of the same thing - weak ego, insecurity, fear.

I'm thinking the exception is dishonesty but maybe not.

I very much dislike unhappy people. I think we owe it to those we interact with, to put on a happy face, as best as possible. When I come across people who are brooding or unhappy, I just ignore or stay away from them. I don't want people like that in my life.

Dennis Prager does a happiness hour on his show each week. It is enlightening.

Happiness Is a Moral Obligation - Dennis Prager

For much of my life, I, like most people, regarded the pursuit of happiness as largely a selfish pursuit. One of the great revelations of middle age has been that happiness, far from being only a selfish pursuit, is a moral demand.

When we think of character traits we rightly think of honesty, integrity, moral courage, and acts of altruism. Few people include happiness in any list of character traits or moral achievements.

But happiness is both.

Happiness — or at least acting happy, or at the very least not inflicting one’s unhappiness on others — is no less important in making the world better than any other human trait.

With some exceptions, happy people make the world better and unhappy people make it worse. This is true on the personal (micro) and global (macro) planes.

Pessimists can be a drag, but there's a reason they're that way and it's to some extent deserving of sympathy.

But this post and what its link advocates reminds me of what I might have chosen had it been on the list --- "fake". Or "pretentious" to put it more nicely.

I like real and respect real, even if it's negative at least it's real. I'd much rather be presented with real pessimism than fake optimism.

I'm going with "other" on this. My pet peeve is "Manipulative" ...the control freak.
I can tolerate just about any other personality trait in others. We are who we are.
If someone in my personal life tries to manipulate or control me, it really frosts my cookies.
You can lie to me and I can forgive you...
You can be unreliable as hell... I can forgive it...
Temperamental, arrogant, conceited, rude? Hell, I'm that way myself... no problem...
But don't try to manipulate or control me.

Now, I would also like to ask as a follow up to this question, what is your most annoying personality trait about yourself? Mine is being (unintentionally) rude. I often say things that I wish I hadn't said out loud. It's not that they are untrue, it's how the truth can sometimes come across.

I see what you're saying but I will always put on a happy face to the outside world - including such shallow surface*** places as here. It could be construed as fake but I don't think so.

***Its not that "here" is shallow. Its that, for me, its not the place for depth and detail. There have been times when I was really dragging but would never post about it or talk to acquaintances about it. Good close friends - yes. Others, no.

I'm also a firm believer in what I call "act as if". I feel better if I am cheerful or, at the least, don't whine. And I feel worse if I do. Same with other feelings - like shyness.

All of the posts in this thread have been interesting and thought provoking.

Thank you.
