i'll start this in politics anyway, i think it's fairly recent (last night), and it was in the presidential debate so i guess it's politics.
“BIRTHER” PEJORATIVE EXPLOITED
by Sharon Rondeau
(Sep. 26, 2016) — At 10:00 p.m. EDT during Monday night’s presidential debate between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, moderator Lester Holt asked Trump why he allegedly claimed that Obama is not a “natural born Citizen” by calling for Obama to release his birth certificate in 2011.
In his question, Holt acknowledged Trump’s public statement last week that he accepted that Obama was “born in the United States,” claiming that Trump’s conclusion is what “most Americans” know to be true.
Trump responded by framing as an accomplishment therelease of an image purported to be Obama’s long-form birth certificate from the Hawaii Department of Health (HDOH), which was done by the White House on April 27, 2011.
When it was Clinton’s turn to speak on the subject, she said that Trump had shown “disrespect” for the “first African-American president” by doubting his birth narrative, also invoking the frequently-used pejorative of “birthers.”
Trump responded to Clinton by stating, as McClatchy News reported, that Clinton’s 2008 campaign had circulated a photo of Obama in Muslim garb as well as launched the rumor that he was born in Kenya.
The opening question of a 2008 primary debate between Clinton and Obama confirms Trump’s assertion, according to then-moderator Brian Williams.
Neither Holt, Trump nor Clinton acknowledged that an investigation commissioned by Maricopa County Sheriff Joseph Arpaio found in 2012 that the long-form birth certificate image is a “computer-generated forgery.”
Last week, Arpaio told a Tea Party group that his office is “still investigating” the birth certificate image.
this is a different kind of story, because it's still ongoing.
there are still a lot of people, myself included, that still believe obama is hiding something in his past, that his documentation is sketchy/contrived/forged.
