I thought "Mission Creep" was Dick Cheney's former Secret Service code name.

Cheney was never so naive to think Iraq / all parties would "set aside secular differences" and seek political accommodation. They are into killing each other...and then killing us. The creep has no clue.

For the most part, they don't really give a damn about us as long as we stay out of their business. But we keep meddling in their affairs, stationing our troops in Saudi Arabia (where there Holy sites are), and backing up Israel even Israel engages in attacks on civilians and indiscriminately kill Palestinians.

That means if we toned down our interventionism, they wouldn't be all that interested in us. But we get the opposite message from some US politicians who say that we have to fight them there so we won't fight them here. For cryin' out loud, if we stopped trying to force them to bend to our will, they would redirect their energies at each other, and not at us.
