The person instigating the criminal acts shouldn't be the one controlling the allowed response by the potential victim.

The state should not put the life of the criminal ahead of the life of his victims.

When you are threatened that feeling comes from having already tried a retreat but the situation prevents that. 1 on 1 deserves some further consideration but more than that then you have a right to initiate a discouraging defense to the assailant (s)and brandish a weapon

The liberal courts will determine what is reasonable. Didn't happen in Minnesota but in 2014 Michael Brown grabbed for a policeman's gun in Ferguson, MO and they struggled over it. Brown was eventually killed by police. But, the whole thing could have been avoided if the policeman had just turn tailed and ran away. Brown might never have been killed. This is how the liberal courts would have determined it.
