Minnesota cops beg Walz, pols to let them work with ICE, say they could have prevented shootings

The cops would be doing crowd control, not babysitting anybody. Were there that many ICE operations ongoing at the same time? I don't know but maybe they would've been the ones to deal with the idiots in the street that tried to impede the ICE agents from doing their job.

I do agree that if well trained, competent cops had been dealing with Good and Pretti, they'd still be alive.

Yes, but since the mayor decided not to protect his citizens from getting into trouble, he allowed a dangerous situation to get worse. In fact, he encouraged it, along with that dipshit governor they have. ICE agents are not supposed to be in danger from the public, and it is a federal offense to impede them from doing their jobs. Which is not to say one way or the other whether either shooting was justified, the courts can decide that. But one thing is certain, the democrats made it more difficult than it should have been.

I would like to see the quote where the mayor asked them to do anything but peacefully protest.

It doesnt exist, though.

So if actual cops had been around, the Keystone cops of ICE wouldn't have been able to murder Good and Pretti? Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. There are something like 600 cops in Minneapolis and 3000 ICE agents. That means each local cop would have to babysit 5 ICE cops on average. And of course the Minneapolis cops would have their regular work to do, outside of babysitting ICE agents. Chances are they wouldn't have been able to prevent the murders.
The City cops would be in charge of crowd control but they were absent and refused to help ICE. Even 600 cops would have helped.

Walz a Frey should be charged with dereliction of duty and incitement of a riot. Beyond that maybe even sedition and rebellion.

Generally speaking cops have common sense..dei bs and corruption taint it like everything else, Minneapolis proven
But you do find the Minneapolis Chief of Police Brian O'Hara is acting like a weak kneed patsy for the mayor.

If CPB -- with NO police powers -- had done the correct thing and called local police, they would have been there to help.

In fact, nothing was stopping them at all.

So we can throw this thread in the trash.
City officials and the MPD have taken explicit steps to limit cooperation with ICE: Mayor Frey has stated the city “will not cooperate” with ICE in enforcement , the MPD revised an immigration policy to more clearly prohibit assisting ICE , and the city moved to strengthen a separation ordinance intended to keep local policing distinct from federal immigration actions. The City of Minneapolis and Minnesota’s attorney general have also sued to halt the federal surge, arguing the state and cities did not ask for the operation and are bearing its public-safety and financial costs, including documented overtime tracking by MPD.

More likely local cops would have gotten shot by untrained, incompetent, trigger happy ICE goons.
Is that why the MPD is down by more than one third strength since the Floyd incident and recruitment is at it's lowest.

Well that would make me prime ICE agent material. Should I apply? I haven't been in any white supremacist groups or the Proud Boys, so those are knocks against me. But I have the IQ they are looking for.

Haven't you heard? DEI applicants need not apply.. :dev3:

Th Trump gestapo and its lickspittles may not like legitimate law enforcement. Neither do criminals.

Rather than demonize everyone who does not kowtow to Trump. and every undocumented person, asking realistic, intelligent questions may be a better approach:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Wednesday said the country needs a national conversation about immigrants lacking permanent legal status who “obey the law,” as public opinion sours on the Trump administration’s deportation sweeps.
“We need a national conversation about what we’re going to do, about people who’ve come here, some of them 20 years ago, who’ve been obeying the law, paying taxes, good neighbors, have kids, go to PTA. Very few Americans want to see the police walk in and pick them up and deport them,” Gingrich said during an appearance on Fox Business Network.

Welp, the haggis is in the fire now for sure! The head of the police union no less has just pinned all blame and responsibility on Frey and Walz. Pretti and Good's deaths are both on THEM from pure, unmitigated TDS, their own police force says they could have prevented the deaths, that it isn't ICE's fault, and that Walz and Frey have pinned the police between the Fed and locals with their hands tied unable to do their jobs. I can't wait for the wrongful death lawsuits and culpability lawsuits begin to fly.

Frey is done with and Walz will be soon boiled in his own fat.
