Merry Christmas!

You must have been distracted---you said "a week after Jan. 21."
Did I? My faux pas. How did I miss that! Slightly more than a week, huh. Yeah, I think I was distracted with something I've been dealing with here. Good catch.

But yeah, Mardi Gras is based on Easter that somehow is based on the moon. Thats why Easter is on a different day every year.
I believe you are right. I know several holidays are based on things like that, keyed on the Moon or second Sunday of the month, etc.
I was actually referencing a Christmas Holiday chart I made a few years ago while dealing with an issue with my right eye and stupidly didn't notice the difference between February and January. Maybe you'd like a copy? I created it trying to put together a face and relationship between all of the events relating to the Christmas season. All my life I heard of all this stuff but no one ever tied them all together. I'm not sure but I think at one time, folks stopped working for Christmas right on through to Plough Monday where they began ploughing their fields again.

And the very first to wish you a Merry Christmas 2025. (A bit early, you say? I agree. But it does make me the first.)

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!! from the San Felipe de Neri Parish in Old Town, Albuquerque, and among the oldest, if not the oldest still active congregation in the USA. Established 1706 and a good deal of the Church walls date back that far.
Christmas Eve is a huge deal in Albuquerque and spending it on or near the Old Town Plaza is an unforgettable experience. Thousands of candelarias/luminarias are lit at dusk and line every walkway and top every wall and most rooftops throughout the area.

Same cast, same script, same scenario, same location, same music, same ending.

Watching a Hallmark Christmas movie makes me feel like Bill Murray in the movie "Groundhog Day."
"Groundhog Day" is a classic, just like "It's A Wonderful Life".
