A win-win, I should say.

15% Tariffs on both sides. Plus more European investment in the U.S., including buying energy and military gear.

From the BBC:

The United States and European Union have reached a trade deal, ending a months-long standoff between two of the world's key economic partners.

After make-or-break negotiations between President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen in Scotland, the pair agreed on a US tariff on all EU goods of 15%. That is half the 30% import tax rate Trump had threatened to implement starting on Friday.

Trump said the 27-member bloc would open its markets to US exporters with zero per cent tariffs on certain products.

Von der Leyen also hailed the deal, saying it would bring stability for both allies, who together account for almost a third of global trade.

Trump has threatened tariffs against major US trade partners in a bid to reorder the global economy and trim the American trade deficit.

Of course the BBC made sure to mention:

As well as the EU, he has also struck tariff agreements with the UK, Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam, although he has not achieved his goal of "90 deals in 90 days".

Von der Leyen also hailed it as a "huge deal", after "tough negotiations".

Under the agreement, Trump said the EU would boost its investment in the US by $600bn (£446bn), purchase hundreds of billions of dollars of American military equipment and spend $750bn on energy.

That investment in American liquified natural gas, oil and nuclear fuels would, Von der Leyen said, help reduce European reliance on Russian power sources.

"I want to thank President Trump personally for his personal commitment and his leadership to achieve this breakthrough," she said.

"He is a tough negotiator, but he is also a dealmaker."

Trump will leave this country in great shape and in a far better position in the world after three more years of this.

Then let's see of the next president manages to screw it up - a concern no matter which party takes the WH.

Europe has learned what I have known for a long time, America has been the golden goose for the world. Canada had the best opportunity to maximize in a free trade deal and instead of innovating and being competitive, we reinforced a police state and lost three decades.

I tried for two decades to educate Canadian authorities, but like their old British overlords they treat other nations with the same discourse they treat citizens. The United States, especially lead by Trump; isn't just some obedient subject, he isn't a career politician bought and sold.

Canada should be strong leader in innovation but instead we are a caste system enforced by unaccountable Creepy Ones.

Trump is definitely going to take the hard line against Canada now, they have Japan and the E,U in the fold, even the U.K. Therefore, unless Canada opens up a great deal, the entire auto industry will disappear in short order. For a province like Ontario where 100k are homeless and property taxes are skyrocketing, this is not good news.

It's disappointing but not at all surprising as I am a victim of these criminals. They like to bully until they face a bigger dog. Trump has all the time in the world now. So what may have been a strength for Canada (to delay and obfuscate) is no longer viable.

They probably say, "There's that crank who has been bitching ever since a Mountie slapped him upside the head as a teen. We are watching to make sure he's not making pipebombs, right?"

15% on both sides? You know that the EU tariffs on American goods were basically zero until tRump stuck his tiny little mariokart mushroom in, right?

Chaos caused.

The problem with the EU wasn't tariffs, it was that our products are shit and no one wants to buy them.

Yep. I was shocked when early this morning, 8:30AM on a Sunday, I turn on TV and see Trump in Europe live, closing another big deal. Trump just never stops.

By the time these four years are over, the Left will have shaken apart like a 1930s rollar coaster with no Loctite on its bolts.

It keeps tempting me to create a list, but I'm afraid that Trump has already gotten so much done that I'd be sure to miss and overlook a lot.

Kinda stunning really that Trump is not polling in the 90s.

Idiots out there forget all too quickly the POS we came from just six months ago.

Yes, it would be hard to keep up. While you were writing down one accomplishment, he'd be scoring another.

Makes you wonder who they are asking? Just people in the newsroom, I suppose.

They hope we all will, so they can nominate another "moderate" like sleepy Joe.

This will either reduce the U.S./EU trade deficit:

European Union Trade Summary

U.S. total goods trade with the European Union were an estimated $975.9 billion in 2024. U.S. goods exports to the European Union in 2024 were $370.2 billion, up 0.7 percent ($2.6 billion) from 2023. U.S goods imports from the European Union totaled $605.8 billion in 2024, up 5.1 percent ($29.4 billion) from 2023. The U.S. goods trade deficit with the European Union was $235.6 billion in 2024, a 12.9 percent increase ($26.9 billion) over 2023.

Or the U.S. will gain a hell of a revenue windfall from the difference.

People who I didn't even think were Trump supporters give me + feedback on him, so yeah, I tend to think these leftwing polls showing Trump tanking is just more of the same bloviating fake BS as everything else they produce.

Yes, or they are polling non-voters who are generall disgusted with all politicians. So a poll that shows 36% approval for Trump may well show 21% approval for Democrats and like 2% approval for Congress.

This is a good deal, but could have been done much more easily.

Trump and his people are such drama queens.

From 1.5% to 15% in one minute. From 15% to 1.5 percent in 100 years. Congrats USA.

This is a good deal ...

Asides that it is no "deal" at all because no one traded anything: What do you call "good"? 15% more expensive goods from Europe in the USA and 15% more expensive goods from the USA in Europe? What is good in this context? 15% less money for producers and consumers and 15% more money for managers and politicians?

I'm really astonished that all leading politicians in Europe seem indeed to be convinced Donald Trump is really the narcissistic idiot he plays to be. Perhaps this uncriticisable idiot is even more dangerous than I previously thought. What know our leading politicians about the high traitor Donald Trump what I do not know?

Um, no, it just means Americans will pay more for European goods, dummy.

If anything, Trump makes it more likely Europeans will boycott American goods.

How is this a win-win?

Pre-Trump the Federal Government of the US taxed US companies about 1.5% tariff on EU goods. Now the federal government is taxing US companies 15% tariff on EU goods, a 10Xs increase.

Basically we just agreed to tax ourselves 15% on things and the EU said "charge what you want, we are not taxing our citizens any more than we are today".
