Red State! Amen.
Although the Trump DOJ had wanted the case dismissed, they also wanted it to hang over the Mayor’s head. The judge (Ho) said “yes” to dismissal but “no” to dismissal without prejudice.

His reasoning was, in my opinion, fair and correct.

Actual justice in that ruling.

I don’t know if Mayor Adams was actually guilty or not. Now, we will never know — at least not officially.

U.S. District Judge Dale Ho issued the order with prejudice, meaning that prosecutors can’t seek to renew the charges in the future. In his 78-page ruling, Ho said he had no power to compel the Justice Department to prosecute the case. But giving the department the ability to bring the charges again “would leave Mayor Adams under the specter of reindictment at essentially any time, and for essentially any reason,” he added.

You forgot to mention in the ruling, that Trump can't strongarm him, either.

No. You fucking idiot. I made it clear what the judge said and why. I also agreed with it. Plus, I cited his ruling.

You may be a scumbag, but at least you’re worthless.

I said it where people could understand it, ya moron. And, of course, you have your usual fit.

"The department wanted to drop the charges while retaining the right to refile them someday — an arrangement that could have given the Trump administration powerful leverage over Adams. U.S. District Judge Dale Ho rejected that proposal in scorching terms, and he criticized the department’s rationales for abandoning the case"

Leverage, as in strongarming.

yeah.

But Adams is a centrist. He is now running against former mayor AND former Governor of New York Cuommo. Cuommo was a D at one time (I don't have links, but I know it in my heart and recollection). So we shall have the people decide.

Given the political nature of the Judiciary, I think this is prudent: election by the people.

Cuomo was not a NYC mayor. He was a NY State governor. So was his dad. He is absolutely a Democrat.

Adams is far from a centrist. He’s a lib. Even as a former cop, he is a lib with perhaps a touch of common sense. But not a lot.
