nov 19 2024 Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene repeatedly misgendered Delaware state Senator Sarah McBride, a trans woman, in a video clip that has circulated online. A video of the interview with Pablo Manríquez shared on X, formerly Twitter, sees the Georgia Republican refer to McBride as "a man," and "he" multiple times.

In a post on X, McBride wrote, "Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness.

It's a fine line of whose rights are violated. I personally would find a way not to call a transgendered person anything as I also have strong prejudices against demanded pronouns that make no biological sense but also try not to be toxic with no justification. MTG isn't so tactful.

But should she be required to use pronouns that make no sense to her, to be required to adjust her speech according to somebody else's demands when her beliefs are heartfelt and justifiable? Or should the other person be required to accommodate her rights to speak as she sees it so long as it is reasonable?
