People in Russia, and possibly Cuba, are ok with authoritarian govts if their basic needs are met. Castro provided health care and literacy when the govt we supported in thr 1950s did not. If Cuba's govt cannot now provide basic needs, it perhaps gives the US the opportunity to to offer covid supplies if the Cuban govt allows free elections, free speech and the right of political expression
