Lee Rigby was mowed down by a car, two guys jumped out of the car in the name of Allah Akbar and beheaded Lee in-front of the public. The police turned up, arrested them and they were jailed. Clear cut case, should have gone to the gallows.
I read in German now what had happened. First of all congrats to your policemen. They got them alive. Very good. I hate it when suicide killers are successful. I guess they did not leave the scene of crime and provoke other Brits because they saw bad US-American films. Police comes and kills everyone. Heroic. But now everyone is able to see that this losers are anything else than heroes.
And I guess you underestimate the first step of this drama: the conversion of this criminals to this what they call Islam. From my point of view they had been stupid diletants. They did not even know what "an eye for an eye" really means. They did not know what means "to swear" and so on and so on. In simple words: They insulted God incessantly ‘in the name of God’. U-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e. I assume most Muslims will see this the same way as I do.
Whatever ... I guess their "conversion" had happened via smart phones and internet without personal contact. I know a comparable case here in Germany in case of a girl who became an Islamist. Her totally normal and tolerant parents had been deeply shocked that within some weeks or very few months their daughter completely changed her whole life and became an islamist. Then she drove in a foreign country, married an unkown member of the terror organisation IS - because terrorist friends told her she has to do so - and she got two children from him. They lived together in a stolen house and had a female slave. One day this slave made something wrong and her husband tied this woman in the courtyard of the house in the blazing sun. She died.
Some time later this Islamists had been attacked, her husband was killed and she tried to come home to Germany. After some month we took her back, she was judged and came for some years into prison because of "failure to render help service" because she had done nothing to try to help this woman who had died.
But what's really ununderstandable - asides of all this violence and nonsense - is something else: How is a normal young girl suddenly able to become a completely strange person? Even for her own parents she became a stranger. I have not any idea what happens in such cases. What for heavens sake happens in the internet? This question I have also in your case. Are you you when you speak with me or are you your own bad demon when you speak with me? What do you know about your own identity? We have here in our city for example a "gallow hill". Most people think there had been executed people in the middle ages. Nonsense. This gallows had been cranes used for cargo. No one was killed.
In case of this 2 criminal men I think it is good that they are alive. Perhaps we will need them one day for psychological tests or biological testings. Perhaps we will find brain abnormalities or something else what we currently do not know. Again: Death is no answer! Never!
PS.: The gallows here not had been used for cargo - they had been used for ice. In winter ice blocks had been loaded into ice-cellars. So we had been able to drink cold beer in the middle age summers - while you still drank luke warm cerves in those days, I guess.
