Gotta give this guy credit for creativity...
A Hanson Town, Massachusetts, resident is projecting a pro-Trump message on their small town's water tower. He's projecting it from his back yard.
Currently, the town is fighting back by shining its own lights on the tower. The town is spending a lot of money on generators and salaries to fight the guy's project.
A Cease and Desist order is in the works - and Highway Department employees have aimed a spotlight at the area to try and block the projection.
The town's sign regulation law states: 'Political signs are allowed in all zoning districts on private property with the property owner’s authorization; there is no placement of political signage on municipal property.'
Administrator Lisa Green said resident will be fined $100 each day until they stop.
It's kind of interesting as free speech is legal in public. While I would not want someone projecting onto my house, he's projecting onto public property. Are signs prohibited based upon the message? Can you ban political signs, but not other signs? That would seem to be a violation of the Constitution. You can ban all signs of a certain size or height, but that's for aesthetic or safety issues, not the content of the sign. Also, is the projection even a "sign?" Hmmmm.
