ASHINGTON (7News) — A man arrested at the Capitol Visitor Center in D.C. reportedly 'smelled like fuel' and had flammable items at the time, U.S. Capitol Police said Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said the man was stopped while being screened at the visitor's center, which is located under the U.S. Capitol Complex and near the Supreme Court building. On the man was a torch and a flare gun,officials said.
Nearby, officials told ABC News that officers are investigating a car at 9th Street and Maryland Avenue, Northeast, likely connected to the man.
