NEW YORK CITY — Zohran Mamdani, winner of New York City's mayoral Democratic primary, has vowed to knock down the One World Trade Center in order to build more affordable housing.

Mamdani admitted that taking down the popular tower was something of a political suicide mission, but he remained undeterred.

"We will not allow the wealthy capitalist elite to hijack our city," said Mamdani. "As mayor, I promise to take this problem head on by bringing down One World Trade Center and putting cheap, government-controlled apartments in its place. I understand that people believe this initiative could really blow up in my face. But so long as I'm at the controls, that's where we're heading."

Many New Yorkers have expressed doubts about Mamdani's plan, not believing it to be feasible. "That tower would be almost impossible to take down, unless the support structure were to be melted or something," said local man Roger Philips. "Mamdani said he has a plan he's been working on for years with a dozen or so experts, but I'm skeptical."

At publishing time, Mamdani had announced he would also be removing all synagogues in the city to make way for new government-operated grocery stores.

NYC already had their experiment in building affordable housing. They're called projects, and they turned out to be dirty, dangerous, crime and drug ridden holes. I'd hate to see what would happen to the projects if this Muslim menace defunded police. Talk about the wild, wild west. For years, the Democratic machine in New York managed to contain its most radical flank with centrist figures like Eric Adams and, before him, Michael Bloomberg. But that firewall has crumbled. Mamdani, backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, the Working Families Party, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is ushering in a new era – one that reads more like a utopian manifesto than a functioning blueprint for the nation’s largest metropolis.
Under Zohran’s New York, we’re looking at government-owned grocery stores, free public transit and permanent political handcuffs on the NYPD. Prostitution? He’s on record supporting full decriminalization. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if the next proposal is for city-run brothels.
Some may argue these are bold, visionary policies. But history tells a different story. When governments take over basic market functions – like grocery stores – it rarely ends with stocked shelves and smiling citizens*. Look no further than Venezuela, where state-run food distribution led not to equity but to rationing, shortages, and corruption. The idea that New York City, already struggling with record-high costs of living and regulatory overreach, would somehow succeed where socialist regimes have failed is either delusional or deeply cynical.

Commentary:
The eight years of De Blasio brought back the debauchery, prostitution homelessness and high crime that once was cleaned up by former mayor Giuliani.
The possible election Mamdani would setback New York City further than the incompetent De Blasio could ever have dreamed.
More prostitution, crime, defunding of police and socialism!! Yay! Way to go NYers. you done yourself proud. Now ask yourselves where are you all going and what’s in Hell's handbasket.
If New Yorkers are dumb enough to elect Mamdani they deserve everything they get.

When I read that I thought "This has GOT to be the Babylon Bee................"; then I thought: Is this guy that crazy?? The answer to BOTH is "yes"!
