Majority of Americans More Concerned about ‘Socialist Left’ Than ‘MAGA Republicans’: POLL

Maybe you need to include farmers welfare to be fair.

Government payments (excluding crop insurance payments) to farms have fluctuated since 1933, from a low of $1.5 billion in 1949 to $32.1 billion in 2000. In 1949, government payments made up 1.4% of total net farm income — a measure of profit — while in 2000 government payments made up 45.8% of such profits.

In 2019, farms received $22.6 billion in government payments, representing 20.4% of $111.1 billion in profits.

I've covered Trump and his supporters hypocrisy where it comes to corporate farm subsidies many times.

But the previously, long time in existence farm subsidy doesn't count?
Knew people who owned some 250 acres, many moons ago. Never farmed it, yet all they had to do was cut the fields to get the subsidy.....But Trump's wrong.

Trump was nowhere near being president when I learned about farm subsidies.

Why not just produce and sell or give the surplus away or grow something not in surplus??

Was it hypocritical for some then also? Of course.

No, it was well intentioned at the time, just like welfare.

It could be but the discussion wasn't about intent. It was about hypocrisy. Those on the right don't see welfare programs as well intentioned.

What good do farm subsidies really do? Drive up food prices? That's just more money out of everybody's pockets.
