There’s a good article over at the American Thinker dealing with the corruption and money-grubbing so common among “Palestinian” arabs fronting for the Pal-Arab beggars and squatters.

Abbas has taken a cue from the previous HTIC (Head Terrorist in Charge), who have made personal fortunes from pilfering Infidel welfare dollars. Like his predecessors, he comes begging to the UN and to the West like an underpaid prostitute. And, like so many of the Pal-Arab thieves and scum-bags that beg the West for boatloads of infidel cash, he has this odd habit of drenching his begging with overwrought statements about the "Zionist occupier" and how Palestinians should be allowed at last to "lead normal lives." Yes, they demand East Jerusalem back too, but that's old news. What they really want to drive the Jews into the sea.

Life is good for Mahmoud Abbas. He is not about to mess it up by reaching a comprehensive peace agreement with Israel.

As peace negotiations slog on, Abbas will soon begin his tenth year as president of the Palestinian Authority. That's impressive, as his term actually ended in 2009. But with a government full of cronies happy to oblige him, Abbas continues to unilaterally extend his occupation of the president's office.

Abbas presides over a population of about 2 million -- the size of metropolitan Kansas City. Yet outsized perks of the P.A. presidency include fawning foreign leaders, international celebrity status, globetrotting to collect more foreign aid than any people in history, and -- best of all for a politician -- zero expectation of successful governance: "The Occupation" serves as an all-purpose excuse for everything from corruption to failure to stop terror to perennial economic basket-case status.

The office certainly pays well enough. Abbas has amassed a fortune as president estimated at $100 million. His sons, too, have accumulated great wealth during his tenure, including from U.S. foreign aid, a monopoly on imported cigarettes, and public works projects.

In fact, the staggering levels of corruption and embezzlement in Abbas's government have drawn international notice. The U.S. Congress's Foreign Affairs Committee issued a 2012 report entitled "Chronic Kleptocracy: Corruption within the Palestinian Political Establishment." Last week, the U.K.'s Sunday Times leaked a report from the European Union's auditing arm indicating that the EU could not account for some $2.6 billion in aid given to the Palestinians since 2008.

In other words Mahmoud Abbas is no different than all the corrupt leaders that came before him.

Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

So the leader of the PA is a greedy Muslim who couldn't give two shits about Palestinians in the WB.... Who woulda thought

He's following the footsteps of Yasser HIV+ Arafart, who stole millions from his own people. Hopefully , sooner than later, Palestinians will acknowledge this fact, that Abbas is greedy and that his interests do not have anything to do with getting the Palestinians a country and protest against him instead of wasting time protesting the IDF

Do you really think that the author Abe Katsman has written an un-biased article? Wanna buy the Brooklyn Bridge, cheap?

Political Corruption in Israel

Year: 2012
Author: Doron Navot
Series: Hebrew Books
Softcover | 576 pp. | 2 Volumes | Hebrew

Topics: corruption, immunity of Knesset Members, local government, political appointments, rule of law, Members of Knesset

Price: 84 NIS | Add to Cart
.

Combining theoretical, comparative research with previously unpublished data, Political Corruption in Israel analyzes major incidents of corruption among high-level Israeli politicians since the founding of the State. Doron Navot's primary claim is that corruption has become a central feature of Israeli politics, radically altered by changes that the political and economic elite have instituted since the 1980s. A follow up volume to Political Corruption: A History of a Controversial Concept (2008), the book also argues that Israel has recently begun facing an internal struggle over the nature of politics and government, including a struggle over what constitutes political corruption.

After providing a short theoretical and conceptual framework, Navot exposes the unofficial history of politics and government in Israel—beginning with the days of Mapai, extending through the rule of Menahem Begin, the rotation government, and Rabin's second government, and ending with the first Netanyahu government, the Sharon era, and the Olmert government. An additional chapter is devoted to local government. The concluding chapter lists suggestions for mitigating the hazardous and complex patterns of corruption that have developed recently in Israel.

Nice deflection Pbel ;)

But seriously, are you really going to compare what you just posted to Palestinian leaders stealing from their own people ??

Seriously who were the Israeli leaders stealing from? We all pay for corruption either directly or indirectly.

Oh my. That was quite a sidestep.

Corruption in the various welfare institutions that allow Pal-arab cheats and money grubbers to amass personal fortunes is not a new phenomenon.

But hey, why quibble over 2.5 billion Euros.

EU says Palestinian Authority lost 2.5 billion euros of aid

That is the government that the Palestinians voted out but the US/Israel put back in.

Yes Tinmore. It's all one grand conspiracy.

Abbas was held at gunpoint in a secret location and water boarded until he agreed to be "put back in".

You can resume your coma, now. There's a good fellow.

Actually, pbel, I wasnÂ’t aware that I preferred the Fatah terrorists vs. the Hamas terrorists until you decided that on my behalf. That's very generous of you.

However, getting back to the topic of islamic terrorists receiving Western welfare dollars, US Annual Aid to the “Palestinians” averages just under 1-2 billion annually (although additional aid of 150 million and 250 million was given in 2005 and 2006 at request of Pres. GW Bush). The Palestinians receive international donations from the UN (UNRWA--mostly funded by the US--annual budget ~0.5 billion), the European Union, and (inconsistently) fellow Arab nations. The Hamas-Fatah split has complicated this, but total annual contributions are estimated @ 1.5 billion.

The US also gives aid to Lebanon, Iraq, Morroco, and Yemen.

The purpose of the aid is both economic, humanitarian, and for peace incentives.
The amount received by these Arab nations in toto equals and, at times, has exceeded that provided to Israel.

Of these, the aid given to Israel (and nearly all of it) comes back to the US through the purchase of American goods. Furthermore, the joint defense benefits, e.g. R&D, has been extremely beneficial to the US as well. As such, US Foreign Aid to Israel has been symbiotic.

This cannot be said of US welfare payments to Arab nations, nor other world recipients.

Israel, by necessity, needs dedicate a large portion of her GNP to defense. US Foreign Aid is not as essential (Israel has a strong economy) as is access to military supplies and materials. Of course, there are other world suppliers for such equipment and Israel has been developing its own defense industry. I would say, ultimately, that American good will and support is more important than even access to US military hardware--for this keeps the bullies from ganging up on Israel--and the resultant conflagration would be disastrous, especially for the Israelis (and Palestinians).

Despite recent negative Obama Administration rhetoric and posturing, the US Administration is committed to assuring Israeli security and military superiority.

The reality is there will be no change in US Foreign Aid practices to Israel nor other Arab nations. The US-Israeli Foreign Aid relationship, unlike those with other nations, is acknowledged unreservedly as a "win-win."

Very curious, why did you leave out Israel's welfare check?

Nothing personally. However, I did explain to you that "aid given to Israel (and nearly all of it) comes back to the US through the purchase of American goods. Furthermore, the joint defense benefits, e.g. R&D, has been extremely beneficial to the US as well. As such, US Foreign Aid to Israel has been symbiotic"

I suspect you're in denial about shared US and Israeli goals, attitudes and political objectives. Your hatred for Joooooos won't allow you to see past those hatreds.

Secondly, we share with Israel intelligence information that benefits both our nations.

Ideally, I would like a Middle-East where all these nations are at peace and Islamic terrorists are extradited to be tried and not given haven. However, that is not the case and islamist Middle Eastern nations support islamic terrorists.

Ideally, I would prefer that there was no need to have intelligence agencies with special ops units to stop threats to civilians. However, we live in and must react in reality. The reality is that Islamic terrorism is a function of Islamic ideology. Having mutual interests with Israel provides a bit more security for both our nations in defending ourselves from a hostile, antagonistic and brutish politico-religious ideology.

THE STRATEGIC FUNCTIONS OF U.S. AID TO ISRAEL

http://www.wrmea.org/congress-and-u...l-aid-to-israel-figures-facts-and-impact.html

By Stephen Zunes

Dr. Zunes is an assistant professor in the Department of Politics at the University of San Francisco

Since 1992, the U.S. has offered Israel an additional $2 billion annually in loan guarantees. Congressional researchers have disclosed that between 1974 and 1989, $16.4 billion in U.S. military loans were converted to grants and that this was the understanding from the beginning. Indeed, all past U.S. loans to Israel have eventually been forgiven by Congress, which has undoubtedly helped Israel's often-touted claim that they have never defaulted on a U.S. government loan. U.S. policy since 1984 has been that economic assistance to Israel must equal or exceed Israel's annual debt repayment to the United States. Unlike other countries, which receive aid in quarterly installments, aid to Israel since 1982 has been given in a lump sum at the beginning of the fiscal year, leaving the U.S. government to borrow from future revenues. Israel even lends some of this money back through U.S. treasury bills and collects the additional interest.

In addition, there is the more than $1.5 billion in private U.S. funds that go to Israel annually in the form of $1 billion in private tax-deductible donations and $500 million in Israeli bonds. The ability of Americans to make what amounts to tax-deductible contributions to a foreign government, made possible through a number of Jewish charities, does not exist with any other country. Nor do these figures include short- and long-term commercial loans from U.S. banks, which have been as high as $1 billion annually in recent years.
Total U.S. aid to Israel is approximately one-third of the American foreign-aid budget, even though Israel comprises just .001 percent of the world's population and already has one of the world's higher per capita incomes.
