I agree with a lot of your post. But this instance, ^^^^, I can't. Because in a real working constitutional republic, the government wouldn't be involved in education at any level.

In a democracy the people can delegate anything they want to their duly authorized government - in principle. Part of the problem here in the United States is that education has become just another means of generating revenue by private capitalism as has health care and other issues that impact the nation and it's people.

Elon and other tech companies could simply sponsor foreigners and get their H1B's. And it wouldn't be "automatic" as Trump suggests.

On a personal level, if Trump was really concerned with keeping Americans working, he would've already fired Elon. But the two are in lock step in their support for more foreigners taking American tech jobs.
