Oh bologne. The woman was not breaking a law. HArris's own words are in the video. She personally put parents on notice they would be prosecuted. SHE pushed for that program in the state legislature, and was trying to get ahead poltically at the time. She grabbed ahold of that initiative and made it her own.

Pushing for a law and how a REPUBLICAN District Attorney might enforce it are two different things.

The law, as written, was actually just fine. Your kids need to be in school. If your kid is missing more than 10% of the time without a valid excuse, that's a problem.

It sounds like this kid had a valid excuse, except somewhere, the dots weren't being connected. Did the mother not inform the school of her chronic condition? Or did the school know and just handed the DA a list of people without checking it because THEY didn't like they law and were trying to make an embarrassing situation for the DA? Or did the Republican DA just not look into individual cases and arrest this woman anyway.

Regardless, I'm just not seeing how Harris is responsible for supporting a law that in principle, isn't a bad idea.
