Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has been accused of gaslighting residents while “protecting” violent gangbangers — after the feds took down several members of the city’s largest gang in a daring, heavily-armed raid near MacArthur Park on Thursday.
The embattled leader previously blasted a federal operation in July, which saw immigration agents descend on the troubled park to root out MS-13 gangbangers and open-air drug markets, calling it “outrageous” and “un-American.”
She also insisted at the time that MacArthur Park, which has long been plagued by gang activity, homelessness and drug addicts overdosing on fentanyl, was a beloved children’s sanctuary.
“Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing — then, the MILITARY comes through,” Bass ranted on X, posting a time-lapse video of the agents marching across an empty soccer field inside the park.
The gang is a major player in the drug epidemic gripping LA. It is a top trafficker of methamphetamine and fentanyl, with a special focus of their operations in MacArthur Park.

Following the Thursday raid, the feds shared frightening images of what appears to be a massive narcotics seizure, featuring a semi-automatic handgun, stacks of cash, and thousands of suspected illicit pills and powders.
“FBI agents and partners with LAPD, HSI, IRS, DEA, and U.S. Marshals served multiple search and arrest warrants,” the FBI’s Los Angeles office wrote on X. “Illegal narcotics, cash, and other evidence were seized.”
The gang, also known as, Barrio 18, is a large, multi-ethnic, primarily Hispanic street gang originating in LA, with 30,000–50,000 members across the US, Mexico, and Central America.
The US State Department designated Barrio 18 a foreign terrorist organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity in September 2025.

This new trend of electing city leaders with zero experience and voting party and/or virtue signaling is dangerous.
Our two largest cities Los Angeles and New York City elected mayors with ZERO prior experience for the position or any position.
Karen Bass's past involvement with Left-wing organizations and comments about communist figures have led to scrutiny and accusations from political opponents.
She has previously noted that she grew up among many "red diaper babies" (children of Communist Party members), which critics have used to suggest she is a communist sympathizer.
NY's mayor has never worked, run a business, organization or anything.
For the past decade, I've been seeing a trend, DEI hires who are not at all competent to actually run anything. Karen Bass and Zorhan Mandami are great examples.
Will Bass finally clean up the debris and needles in MacArthur Park and around City Hall? I doubt it.

Why gangs with absolutely no constructive purpose at all, have been allowed to exist or operate in this country without any push back by the local governments of these state's is absolutely mind numbing.

Why were we as citizen's convinced that gangs were somehow an important part of our civilized society ? It is truly a head scratcher from hell.

Our children have been shockingly exposed to gangs or these so called gangbangers in our school's and communities for way to long now. Allowing known gangbangers to operate in school's and communities has got to be one of the craziest things this nation has convinced itself to tolerate.

How many people's young children have been exposed and abused by the tolerating of gangs and other crazy BS in the public school's without their parents knowledge of, and operate in their communities with impunity these day's ? One innocent child lost because of gang's, gang grooming, gang intimidation, and gangland murder is far too many in my opinion.

As of March 2026, federal authorities have confirmed that the 18th Street gang maintains direct ties to the Sinaloa Cartel. Following a massive federal takedown known as "Operation Dead Horse," 12 members and associates were arrested for operating a large-scale drug trafficking network centered in Los Angeles, specifically using MacArthur Park as a major "open-air drug marketplace".
During the investigation, which began in January 2023, law enforcement seized over 175 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Six additional suspects remain at large, with at least one believed to have fled to Mexico.
