The media has reported that Jeff Bezos founder and long-time CEO of Amazon and the owner of the Washington Post wrote yesterday in the Post that the Washington Post's opinion page essentially will no longer be unbiased and fair it will hold certain right wing values that being globalization is the right economic model for America and personal liberties should rule in America's laws and will not entertain articles that are antithetical to such values! This permanent high jacking of this valuable asset of America's Democracy is why Jeff Bezos should sell the Washington Post and not buy any media outlet in the future. Major newspapers play an important role in our society in that they are important places where we hold public debate on major issues where readers can hear both sides of an issue and then work out for themselves what is the right direction for the country to go. Globalization is pure evil it is on the level of slavery, morally, a country's fundamental duty is to create living wage jobs for their people, globalization gambles and brings about the destruction of such jobs, the demise of many a principle business for towns across America during the 1970's through 2000's establishes this evil effect where the shuttering of such businesses devastated local communities. Personal liberty to a degree is good but not the libertarian version Bezos espouses for example such things as permanent transgender surgeries and treatments for people under eighteen should not be allowed for it leaves a lot of these people severely emotionally injured for the rest of their life. A newspaper can have a bias but still allow for full and fair debate on their editorial pages allow articles advocating the opposite to the papers agenda for the Wall Street Journal does it, the WSJ priority is right wing pro-business, pro-wealthy and pro-the religious right but it offers robust articles supporting the other side! The Washington Post is probably the second most important paper in the country behind the Wall Street Journal it is a tragedy that it now will be permanently betraying its duty to be a fair and good newspaper. Jeff Bezos in the recent past has demonstrated himself to be inordinately pro-business and inordinately pro-the political powers to be, the prudent and good American thing for him to do is to recognize who he is and what he is all about and that a person like him should not own a major American newspaper and sell the Washington Post to an owner that does not have his drawbacks!
