Longshoreman's Union VP Has a Message About Trump That Will Likely Sicken Dems

Automation and AI is the future. Get it over with and stop bitching. Retrain for a better career.

President-elect Donald J. Trump further solidified his position as a defender of the working class this week. Mr. Trump met with leaders of the Longshoreman’s Association, and it was an experience that the top officials of this labor union couldn’t have imagined. Its vice president, Dennis Daggett, posted on Facebook that the meeting was nothing short of historic in his mind.

Statement from Int'l Longshoremen's Association EVP Dennis Daggett on his meeting with President Trump: "In over 25 years of working in Washington, I have never seen a Republican take up the mantle for working-class people. President-elect Trump proved me wrong yesterday."

Dennis Daggett, the executive vice president of the International Longshoreman’s Association — the union that shut down ports with a strike earlier this year — said his recent meeting with Trump was “an experience I never imagined in my wildest dreams.”

Following that meeting, Trump took on one of their top grievances — automation.

“I’ve studied automation, and know just about everything there is to know about it,” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the meeting.

“The amount of money saved is nowhere near the distress, hurt, and harm it causes for American Workers, in this case, our Longshoremen. Foreign companies have made a fortune in the U.S. by giving them access to our markets.”

Everyone that has actually paid attention knew that this is who President Trump45/47 is.
The loons know too.
They just hate it and constantly attempt (and fail) to discredit it.
I may be out of step with trump on this

Automation means greater efficiency

More production with fewer workers

That has been the story since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution

Unions are continuing to decline because their rank and file put their racism above their economic interests. And frankly, they kind of deserve it.

If you are so useless that your job can be done by a machine, that's on you, isn't it?
1. That race card is why democrats lost big in 2024. Unions are declining because they hurt profitability and no business can survive without profits.
2. There soon will be no job that a machine will not be able to do. AI will be able to do whatever its "self-learning" capability sets its mind to, as well as making custom robots to do the job. The scary part is when AI decides it doesn't need humans to function optimally.

Nothing wrong with automation where it makes sense as long as the automation is produced, serviced and controlled by US workers.

So, um, he's stupid?

Trump's appointees to the NRLB have consistently ruled against Union interests.

His second round is going to be much worse.

Hoping the Cannibals eat you last is never a good strategy.
no they haven't. you lie.

JoeB131 throws the racism smear against white people on every issue

He’s very predictable

Unions put their “racism” above their economic interests ???? This ought to be a good one. Kind of like Obama’s last minute Hail Mary when he tried to shame Black Males into voting for Kamala.

I have talked to some die hard lefty socialists over the last few years who seem totally fine with letting automation take over American worker's jobs and then give everyone Universal Basic Income where they no longer have to work.

What makes me sick is the fact that these union people are stupid enough to believe that Trump is pro labor
