Every American living on American soil should be represented in Congress. Puerto Rico, along with American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and Washington DC, should be fully represented in the House of Representatives, based on their relative populations. But no Senators. The Senate should remain the chamber of state representation.

Why not?

Give them their independence. Today.

Why? Because you think it will help you politically?

You're going to completely forget about them after next week. LOL!

They have reps in the house. They are on committees, can vote in committees etc. Jut no vote on the house floor.

Because they don't qualify.

BULL. These are just territories we acquired just to have the territories instead of someone else.

Because PR offers absolutely no benefit to the USA unlike Hawaii and Alaska, nothing but headaches and billions of dollars in expenses and a mostly poor, illiterate population. The USA doesn't need more dead baggage around its neck. We already have too many other countries we are dumping wasted money into.

PR is not a state.

I think technically they don't have enough people living there, at least not in those Pacific colonies.

PR is not a state.

Never said they were. Now, let's go back to 2nd grade and use some context clues to improve your reading comprehension.

The thesis of my post is to extend Congressional representation in the House to all US territories, while reserving representation in the Senate to states.

Wow. That says a lot about you. Rights and just governance are an entirely transactional proposition to you.

They have a Resident Commissioner. And yes, she serves on committees, but that's really meaningless.

Seeing as I'm not a politician, I have nothing to gain politically. I think that representation in Congress is justified for all Americans. The federal government holds power over these Americans, but they are politically disenfranchised.

Now, there are Democrats who want to give statehood to Puerto Rico and DC, simply because they expect that both cases will result in two additional blue Senate seats. But if you look closely, my suggestion eliminates that idea.

No, it says a lot about YOU that you would put a bunch of PRs sitting on some dilapidated island ahead of your own country.

BTW, what IS your country? You live in PR? Have you considered moving there?

PR is nothing but a territory, a holding, dead weight and useless baggage further dragging America down, meanwhile, we can't even take care of North Carolina, there are still 26 people there still missing never even found yet after hurricane Helene.

You care more about PRs than you do North Carolinians.

Puerto Rico is the United States just the same as North Carolina is the United States. Puerto Ricans are Americans, just the same as Americans in North Carolina.
