Liz Cheney voted out of GOP leadership position

IMHO, she was too much of a distraction at a time when the GOP needs to be united against Biden and the democrats. She just wouldn't STFU, and she voted with the democrats to impeach Trump; there's nothing wrong with opposing somebody even in your own party, but for her it felt like a holy crusade against Trump. Assuming she runs for re-election, it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Then there's this:

More than 100 Republicans will sign a letter Thursday threatening to create a third party if the GOP doesn't "break" with former President Trump, Reuters first reported.
Why it matters: Per Axios' Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei, Trump's grip on the GOP has gotten stronger since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The Republican Party's "allegiance to Trump" as he continues to make false claims about his 2020 election loss has "dismayed" the group, according to Reuters.

  • Per the New York Times, the letter's preamble will state, "When in our democratic republic, forces of conspiracy, division, and despotism arise, it is the patriotic duty of citizens to act collectively in defense of liberty and justice."
  • The letter is due to be released one day after House Republicans are expected to vote on ousting Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from her position as conference chair.

For the record: The letter's signatories include former "governors, members of Congress, ambassadors, cabinet secretaries, state legislators and Republican Party chairmen," per the Times, citing co-organizer Miles Taylor.
What they're saying: "This is us saying that ... the situation has gotten so dire with the Republican Party that it is now time to seriously consider whether an alternative might be the only option, said Taylor, the Trump-era Department of Homeland Security official who wrote an anonymous NYT op-ed on the administration.

  • Taylor also tweeted: "My philosophy on GOP extremists: if you won't join 'em, beat 'em. Come fight with us."
The other side: Jason Miller, a spokesperson for Trump, tweeted: "These losers left the Republican Party when they voted for Joe Biden."

Whoa. Tough times for the GOP, a split in the party makes it really hard to beat the democrats, no?

She was not a distraction. She refused to go along with the big lie. This will have consequenceas for the Republican Party. It will chase away more suburban women. Meghan McCain is a perfect example. She has gone along with Republicans against Biden but she accepts Biden's win and the fact that Trump was responsible for the attack on the capitol. She is being told to get out and you are a loser. Pretty bold stament from a loser like Trump.

Wow, so a bitter partisan hate filled left wing racist Democrat extremist likes Cheney. I mean wow, what better argument could you make against her? Seriously? What?

You're just a zero content angry little boy who knows nothing and adds nothing. All you do is post this same childish post over and over.

You hate Republicans, got it. You're a racist and a dick, who gives a shit?
Do you love Democrats kaz?

Liz and her daddy endless war hawk and nation rebuilder extraordinaire are in love with the Bush family and the Bush family hates Trump...its as simple as that and she will be voted right out of office in November.....

I suspect many Republicans will be voted out as well.

One more Never-Trumper getting booed and booted, like Mitt and Kasich.

The Republican Party has no way to reach a majority when you keep booting people out.
When you boot out "neocons" and keep expanding the "America First Populist" tent, you win elections.
Trump just didn't get that every vote counts. He lost too many voters, like my wife during the 1st debate.
Any normal GOP candidate should be able to beat Kamala and her communists easily.

Nazis like you are going to lose. Neither Trump or a Trumpie candidate will win in 2024.

All Repub voters want was the Republicans elected to be accountable to their constituents. Trump was voted in as the leader of the party as his agendas were approved of. He actually could have worked with Prog politicians and wanted to. But of course when in the meetings he found out what they were. Progs get everything they can for the Party. Perhaps a new medical plan and for sure an infrastructure plan could have been passed. But now. Many voters will never trust you again.

Hysterical hate drive the right.
Always has, always will. And it will be the death of them.

Trump lost because people saw what he was.

He was voted out democratically.

That's the end of it.

She voted Republican President out. Goodbye. Your country club Republican set lost. Blue collar Democrats crashed Your Democratic Party.

Republicans made a huge mistake today. First they showed themselves as the cowardly dogs they are by resorting to a voice vote. That means every Republican is responsible and should be held accountable. Second they have created a martyr which means she will be pointing out the big lies that Republicans are pushing through the 2022 midterms. I suspect Cheney will be used in many Democrat ads.

Never thought that Ken Buck would be a voice of reason. He often aligns with the nuts in the GOP.
“To me” a debate is what “the Republican Party is all about,” Buck said. “This discussion is all about disagreement and coming to the best solution … I just think that we are healthier as a party, by having disagreements on issues.”

“To suggest that the American people in 2022 won't consider the fact that we were unwilling to stand up to a narrative that the election was stolen, I think will be taken into consideration with their vote,” he said.

The fake America first populist tent is full. Trump maxed out is 2020 and it is all downhill from here. Trump won only 33% of the moderate vote. If that vote goes down and supports Democrats, Republicans are finished.

Li pz Cheney knows zero about Republican Party. Spoiled whole life. Typical Republican country club conservative when Trump brought in millions of blue collar workers from Pennsylvania, Mucigan, Ohio, West Virginia, and Ohio.

The Trump right will lose in both election cycles.

They are far the biggest name callers, and they are, yes, fascist in nature.

The questions that need to be asked are who are the 100 Republicans, are they currently serving and if so are they being primaried? Cheney won't even be reelected in Wyoming so what say does she have except as a representative of robber baron neocon dinosaurs. Her and her followers are Ps O S.
