You don’t have to look far to see that the world has lost its mind. Right has become wrong, and wrong has become right. Folks are celebrating what God condemns and condemning what God celebrates. Human beings have now achieved a condition where they experience both confusion and deception. The situation becomes even more frightening because numerous people remain unaware of their situation.

The Bible predicted this event. Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 that before Jesus returns, a great rebellion would rise up and the man of lawlessness would take center stage. The lawless act begins its operation before the man appears. The system which trains people to follow false information instead of facts has already started its operation. Through its practice of giving applause to sin while disregarding holiness the world shows this phenomenon. Religious organizations display their transformation through their decision to swap biblical instructions with motivational guidance and their use of emotional comfort instead of spiritual assurance.

God allows people to experience the results of their refusal to accept His truth after they repeatedly reject it. Paul said that God sends them a strong delusion so that they may believe what is false (2 Thessalonians 2:11). The lie becomes your personal truth whenever you discover it more attractive than the actual truth. A person who consumes poison daily while labeling it dessert has become completely insensitive to spiritual matters because sin has destroyed their ability to feel anything.

That’s where we are. The god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4). People now move through life with spiritual cataracts which prevent them from perceiving true light while they only notice darkness. The situation becomes more severe because numerous religious individuals do not practice moral conduct in their daily activities. They accept Jesus as their Savior but reject His authority as Lord. They shout ā€œGrace!ā€while dancing in rebellion.

Paul gave us a warning together with an encouragement. He said, ā€œGod chose you as the firstfruits to be saved through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truthā€ (2 Thessalonians 2:13). God's people need to maintain their faith because the world has lost its relationship with truth. We remain peaceful during deception because we continue to learn about the Word.

To maintain faith in a world of deception you should avoid constructing your beliefs from news headlines and social media trends and TikTok religious content. You need to be anchored in the unchanging Word of God. That’s why Paul said, ā€œStand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by usā€ (2 Thessalonians 2:15). The truth of Scripture stands above all human traditions.

The situation requires immediate action so you should focus on grabbing the anchor instead of debating sail colors during a storm at sea. The Word of God functions as our spiritual foundation. People of God must remain steadfast on the unshakable Rock when lies spread and truth becomes distorted and when society confuses right with wrong (Isaiah 5:20).

So don’t get shaken. Don’t get seduced. The same Jesus who will destroy the man of lawlessness with the breath of His mouth is the same One who lives in you. The truth remains unshaken by every assault which attempts to destroy it.

Hold on to the Word. Walk in the light. The Shepherd continues to call His sheep by name even though deception fills the airwaves (John 10:27).

That's not what he wrote. It's the brainwashed secularists who damn God that are confused. Paul also used a word for those that see evil is good. It's called the reprobate mind. That's in Roman's chapter 1 when he's explaining how homosexuals justify their sins of gay sex. And, that is what bdavidc is explaining. It's very clear in the Bible that God said "Wo unto those who call evil good and good evil." The confused non-religious mind.

Wrong! God told Moses what to write and gave Moses His commandments. Prophets give mankind His words, his doctrine and his commandments for us to follow. You are taking his name in vain by trashing his oracles, the Prophets. Just like the Great Synagogue (Sanhedrin) did. These commandments from God through his servants, the prophets (Amos 3:7) are weapons against Satan and evil.

Choose to follow. Thats not what vain means. Taking the lords name in vain means using it to hurt or steal from people. The Jews who wrote the Old Testamant have better understanding of it than Christians. Stick to your New Testament. Its not comparable its simply a book of parables but its yours

Who are you? Jewish? You are Jewish and bashing Moses and all the prophets of the OT? You also do not understand what "vain" means. In the Bible, "vain" means empty, worthless, futile, or lacking purpose. It can describe actions, speech, or worship that are useless or devoid of true value. This includes using God's name for meaningless purposes, like in false swearing or empty, repetitive prayer, or engaging in self-idolatry through excessive pride. Vain has nothing to do with stealing or hurting others. Jews understand this definition as well. I'm a convert from Judaism. Again, what are you?

As a Jew who read the Pentateuch in Hebrew I have better understanding then you have of it. You read translation with no understanding if Hebrew iodometric expression. You think the English is literal translation. Its not. The commandment dont take the name of the lord in vain. The correct word is falsehood. His name must not be used to lie, testify falsely. Its not vain as in vanity. When you lie you hurt others, You contradict your own statement

The religious mind i often very confused
ā€œThat’s not confusion, that’s conviction.ā€ The ā€œreligious mindā€ you’re imputing is the mind Scripture tells us to have – ā€œDo not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mindā€ ~Romans 12:2. The only confusion there is when man spurns God’s Word and substitutes feelings for truth.

ā€œFor God is not the author of confusionā€ ~1 Corinthians 14:33. If you see confusion in religion, it’s not from Him, it’s from men who bring truth and lie together. That’s what I was addressing. When man-made opinion supersedes Scripture, the result is chaos.

The mind yielded to Christ is not confused; it is clear. It sees through lies because it is rooted in the Word. The ones who might call that ā€œconfusionā€ are probably the ones who are ā€œever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truthā€ ~2 Timothy 3:7.

That’s nonsense, and Scripture itself refutes it. ā€œVainā€ in ~Exodus 20: 7 comes from the Hebrew shav’, which means ā€œemptiness, falsehood, or worthlessness.ā€ It’s not restricted to stealing or taking advantage of people – it means misusing, falsely, or irreverently the name of God. It means twisting His truth, making false claims in His name, or using it as an excuse to sin.

The Jews didn’t just make up the command; they were commanded by God Himself. And Jesus, the Word made flesh (~John 1: 14), upheld the holiness of His name when He taught us to pray, ā€œHallowed be Thy nameā€ (~Matthew 6:9). It means His name is to be set apart, honored, and never used vainly.

As for ā€œstick to your New Testamentā€, both Testaments are one revelation from the same God. Jesus didn’t scrap the Old; He fulfilled it (~Matthew 5:17). The New Testament doesn’t supersede the Old; it shows it coming to its completion in Christ. To describe it as ā€œjust a book of parablesā€ is to reject the very Word of God who judges all men (~John 12:48).

It is not true that Exodus 20:7 is only speaking of lying. That is not the way that the verse reads in the context of all Scripture. The command is, ā€œYou shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.ā€ The word shav’, which is translated vain, means emptiness, falsehood, or worthlessness. God’s name is used all through Scripture to refer to His character, authority, and holiness. To ā€œtakeā€ His name in vain, then, would be to carry it with you or use it in a way that dishonors who He is. That would include lying but would also include hypocrisy, false teaching, empty worship, using His name for selfish or worldly gain, etc. Jesus said, ā€œNot everyone who says to Me, ā€˜Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Fatherā€ ~Matthew 7:21. That is just one example of how one can falsely call on His name. The same truth can be found in ~Titus 1: 16, where Paul describes some that ā€œprofess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him.ā€ Therefore, taking His name in vain is not limited to giving false testimony, it is any misuse of God’s holy name in word, life, or deed. The consistent teaching of the Bible is that His name is to be dealt with reverently and truthfully, because ā€œholy and awesome is His nameā€ ~Psalm 111:9.

All you are doing is interpreting the Hebrew word the way you want it in order to take the name of the Lord in vain. Nice going. I'm well aware of the changes Jews have tried to do over the centuries with covering their butts for polluting the word of God. Falsehood is just another synonym. When you deny the Christ, you are taking the Lord's name in vain. He is your Messiah. Why do you reject him? He even tells you in Zechariah (chapters 12-14) that he's coming back with wounds in his hands and shows the Jews as he parts the Mt. of Olives.
