I still don’t understand the point. Allied forces having to fight their way through air defenses before bombing civilians somehow makes it more /less justified?

Israel is not targeting civilians. If they wanted to completely level Gaza with absolutely no regard for civilian casualties, they would have been finished a long time ago, particularly with no air defenses to worry about. They wouldn’t have told civilians where to go to be safe prior to bombing. They would have simply started at the North end of Gaza and bombed all the say down to the South, day and night. That is not what is happening.

The point was that innocent civilians are being killed because cowardly terrorists hide behind them. If Israel vowed that no innocent civilians would be killed they would not be able to carry out the mission of defeating Hamas and Hezbollah.

I think that the point that georgephillip is making is that IAF can and does bomb homeless, starving, sick and traumatized Palestinian refugee camps in complete safety and absolute impunity.

For them, bombing refugee camps, hospitals, schools, residential apartment buildings etc carries no more personal risk than playing a video game.

Meanwhile, the Allied pilots faced a real Air Force and anti-aircraft ground defenses to deal with.
That's just one reason that this is a genocide and in no way a "war".

Before you claim that Hamas and Hezbollah use civilians and children as "human shields", please note that when IDFers shoot children "for fun", those children can hardly be considered effective "human shields".

The analogy I was making was that Berlin was bombed and there were many civilian casualties. How is that different than Gaza being bombed? In fact, Israel is telling civilians where to go to avoid the bombing. That is NOT the case in normal warfare.

I was responding the the courage of the pilots.
The IDF's faced no air defenses in their attacks.
Allied pilots faced significant air defense and many were shot down and captured.
I don't believe IDF pilots displayed the same courage as Allied pilots in WWII.
