Your "always" is a big statement. I wouldn't say "always". Political Correctness has misfired badly on them, and Identity Politics looks to go the same way, and very soon. Those are HUGE missteps for liberalism, and are costing them big.

While it seems that liberalism marches on relentlessly and without more than the occasional hiccup, this is not "always" the case. Look at the Victorian age after the Regency era in England, as one example.
