Sapakoff: The Citadel head coach hire, and a larger race issue
More liberal drool from my local newspaper.
One of our college football teams...The Citadel...had its football coach take another higher paying job at JMU. They interviewed the teams offensive and defensive coordinators for the opening. Be patient here....
The Citadel is historically a triple option offense team....and this year's team ran the system and broke records. Won the conference championship. Beat big boy SEC team USC. Made 2nd round of playoffs. He has been there 2 years (same time as the former head coach) and COULD have gone to JMU with him.
The Citadels defensive coach is a former player and has been a coach there on and off for over a decade. Defense was solid.
Citadel gave it to the offensive coach. His offense clearly was the reason for the teams success. PROBLEM is....he's white. The other guy is black.
And the media can't help itself.
The paper asks....if an alien saw football....it would ask "Why are most of the players black but most of the coaches white?" And the article goes on to whine about the coaching profession being too white.
Funny. If that same alien said there should be more black coaches...his logic would also assume that racism must be the reason that most players are black and would wonder why our species isn't demanding more white players.
The media didn't mention that though.
