A simple business, they sell hamburgers. I have some Wendy's in my account and in my wife's account. If they can get things turned around, it's an easy double or triple from the current $8+ range. They do have a lot of debt. My gut feeling is that Wendy's is a survivor, no bankruptcy coming, and the stock is undervalued.

Their problem. It's the same as many. When I was in high school (granted years ago) a single and small drink was under $1. Today it is almost $9.

On occasion when on the road I'll stop at a Wendy's to get the $5 bag. Without that I would never enter a Wendy's.

I read the other day where they are closing many stores. Many of these stores are likely profitable on their own, just not profitable enough for stockholders.

K shaped economy leaves less for masses to spend on food.

Also beef prices are spiraling up due to global warming drought.

These are hard on the bottom line of burger joints.

Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane's, Checkers & Rally's have sprung up everywhere eating up market share.

However Wendy's P/E is low, making it compelling. Also fewer people can cook their own food & will keep eating fast foood.

I bought Wendy's many years ago, and I don't remember the price but I think it was double what it is today. I remember hearing then that it had "growth potential", and it went nowhere but down.

The business model of all fast food franchises seem to be failing.

Their market is with families with children, people wanting a low cost meal or quick snack.
People are willing to sacrifice quality for convenience and low cost.
Fast food no longer foots the bill

I am a regular patron of Wendy's, and although their prices are at times shocking, I think that the food is generally good and reasonably well presented. I do not go in for their "fancy" sandwiches that cost 50% more than the regular burger.

The franchise that I patronize has mature adults in almost all customer-facing positions, and it shows.

I often get their baked potato with chili but it is not always offered, which is an irritation. Then you have to buy a plain potato and a small chili, which is not as good and costs more.

/----/ Ever-rising minimum wages only hurt the fast food industry more. And democRATs constant yammering for higher corporate taxes will be the doom of many franchises if the libtards get their way.

Used to be workers working in fast food could afford College tuition or a new car.

Todays minimum wage barely allows you to eat at the restaurant you work at

Reducing the cost of college tuition is something that can definitely be done.

Reducing the pay for professors in fields like lesbian studies and german polka to what they would receive with their skills in the private sector, would allow schools to reduce tuition. Further, cutting down on financial aid paid by taxpayers, would mean fewer dollars chasing college education, and would force the schools into austerity.

/----/ Yes, I know. But college tuition has risen much faster than the cost of living, thanks to government interference.

/----/ Harvard, Yale, and Columbia have such huge endowments, they could give free tuition just based on the interest from their investments. But they won't. They just keep raising tuition.

Cutting funding will not make it better, only make a college education unavailable to the middle class.

Increased financial aid was not the cause of increased tuition but a response to it

It is much more that minimum wage can no longer afford.

When I worked minimum wage, I could buy a new car on six months work. I could go to the movies for half an hour work. I could get six gallons of Gas for one hours work.

Minimum wage has not kept up with expenses …not even close

I bought my first house in 1985 while working a full time and a part time minimum wage job.

I noted that I could buy a single and a coke at Wendy's when in high school for under $1. Minimum wage was $2.65.

It's around $8.50 now. More than the federal minimum wage. Most states minimum wages are higher but not 2.5 plus times higher.

You people caused it. You forced it in CA WA gave us $10 Mcdouble and many sites closed down. Used to be kids in these jobs learning skills. But you want the kids home stir crazy on dope playing call of duty.

Now you want to pay $30-$50 per hour (as much as driving FED EX trucks) to some 40 yr old illegal to lift the frie bucket up when the bell goes off? Are you crazy?

Conservatives like to point out that minimum wage is not meant to be a living wage.

But it no longer pays basic expenses for a minimum wage worker. Things like college tuition, a car, entertainment

I do need to note here. The last time the federal minimum wage was raised was under Bush. Neither Obama nor Biden did squat.

  • Fast casual is eating away at straight fast food.
  • Wendy's are old and need to be remodeled.
  • Their fast food isnt inexpensive food anymore
  • The broke people in this country are getting more of their paycheck eaten up by healthcare and rent.
  • McDs is leaning in hard to the value meals because their low income customers are struggling but McDs is hanging on to them better with the value meal.
SELL SELL SELL

A democratic president can turn around Trump's struggling economy... they always do.
